No matter how much +Tadge Juechter can slice the subject and how much finger math he may suggest for buyers to do, the failure of the newest Corvette Z06 is not just a possibility, it is a very unpleasant reality, even for the biggest +General Motors kool aid drinkers. The concept and the premise of the C7 Z06 were so idiotic even before the lackluster performance and inability to set itself apart from both the competitors and predecessors that the real life humiliation and failure became merely a formality.
The horrible aerodynamics, mechanical complexity prone to failure and performance hampering "technologies" were already visible on the base Stingray. But... the really eye opening event happened thanks to none other than John Hennessey himself. Hennessey single handily showed the preview of things to come with Z06, needing over 700 hp to allow the Stingray to break the 200 mph barrier while needing about twice of the distance typically associated with such event.
Thus, the newest flagship was bound to be DOA long before the first Z06 was ever assembled. Really too bad that Juechter was too busy spouting off and creating the hype instead of doing the much needed math himself. Or perhaps Juechter's math skill total suck even though the horsepower of the Z06 somehow increased from 625 to 650 hp while the car still fails to deliver on the pre release marketing hype.
Can this car be salvaged and the problems plaguing it rectified to add validity to the previous claims? This possibility is not just unlikely but also impossible. The concept behind the car is a fully failed proposition, working very well for high powered Mustangs and Hellcat twins but a completely dead end for the alleged "supercar". Tadge can do his finger math until the kingdom comes but unfortunately, the obsolete recipe and lack of forward vision and those pesky laws of physics will still invalidate any numbers this delusional tool can cook up.
The only sensible solution? Admitting to the fuck up and scaling down any claims of superiority, perhaps, working on the better paint and body panel fitment instead?
i dont like hennessey, and he can keep his junk!he always tries to make FORD look bad.one example is when he tested the new mustang 5.0 he said something like it took over 20 seconds to get to 150mph from 140mph.then someone else has a video of the new mustang doing 160mph quickly on the video, the mad man 160pt.1.
ReplyDeleteI do not like Hennessey either, never did and never will, just find it pretty funny that he managed to expose problems with Z06 through his stunt, without even realizing that. I mentioned this long time ago and what the consequences for Z06 would be.
DeleteKnowing Hennesseys reputation,he probably had that C7 putting out more than 700 hp.to hit 200mph.ME 3,i don't like him either,he ripped off a lot of people back in the day.
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised either. Agreed, this crook should be doing time.
