Hundreds of 8-speed automatic 2015 Corvettes C7 Z06 sitting in freezing temperatures outside of Bowling Green plant on SUMMER ONLY TIRES...

Nobody can accuse +General Motors of making a habit out of exercising common sense, in fact, the opposite has been the rule for the proud manufacturer of Corvette for as long as anyone can remember.

Thus, it is no surprise that a new example of this corporate stupidity just surfaced and without any doubt, there will be more of the same in the future.

The case in point, the "better and quicker" Z06 cars have been produced since about middle of January of this year.  As soon as the cars are produced, instead of being rushed to the dealers and anxious buyers waiting for them, they end up in the quality control purgatory, the back lot of the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant.  As of now, not a single car equipped with the newest slush box has been released and set up for delivery.  Obviously, there is something wrong with the cars, either a software glitch or mechanical problems with the slush box OR... maybe... more defective oil filters?

Nevertheless, the problem here is not with the fact +Tadge Juechter and his team fucked up again, the real problem is with the cars equipped with SUMMER ONLY tires, stuck for weeks now, sitting outside in freezing temperatures that are typical for Kentucky.  The summer only tires cracking in cold temperatures is a fact and apparently only Tadge and the UAW crew did not get the memo on this subject.

If the stupidity of  releasing GM flagship with plenty of power and no traction because of the winter temperatures was not bad enough, the possibility of crapload of the flagships ending up with cracked tires long before the cars are delivered makes it so much more idiotic.  Will the GM inspect the tires on the hundreds of cars before shipping them out?   Chances are very good that this will not be the case at all.  Instead, GM will dump the cars on the dealers and let them worry about this part.  Of course the dealers will not bother and ultimately, the task of dealing with the problem will be dumped on the buyers.

The buyers who will be extra screwed will be those buying out of state and using so called courtesy delivery option.  One cannot help but wonder if anyone in GM took in the consideration the possibility of creating a safety hazard for the buyers?  This is of course a purely rhetorical question.

  1. GM is doing their customers a favor, no delivery no problems. Of course no money for GM. It they were smart they would cancel the orders and go and get a car that can be used on the street and the track, maybe a Cayman S, 911, Z28, GT, or my favorite a GTI.

    1. They'll replace them, assuming someone sees the cracks and complain and there will be replacements available. Typical GM logic of paying for damages instead of preventing the cause.
