The fall from grace continues- another 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 takes a shit, this time during Motor Trend's 2015 Best Driver's Car Event

As with anything else surrounding the newest generation of +General Motors Corvette, positive happenings are an exception to the rule stating the newest Corvette is a truly embarrassing failure (at least in its advertised function) and outright piece of shit that gives the worst mid 70's British pieces of junk a serious run for the money regarding the outmost shitty reliability and quality control.

Thus, without any surprise, the recently completed 2015 Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car "competition" proved this exact point made just recently while commenting on the results of the 2015 Car and Driver Lightning Lap event. (incidentally, the car that won that Lightning Lap broke down as well, only the magazine conducting this test "forgot" to complete the story due to the apparent advertising contractual obligations to GM... (oops!!!).

Nevertheless, considering all the breakdowns, problems and failure to deliver on marketing bullshit (including the infamous Nurburgring multiple humiliation), the overpriced and underdesigned and underbuilt but certainly not underhyped piece of plastic shit needs all the positive press it can get.

So far, after 10 months, there is only one and apparently with absolutely no new ones on the horizon, no matter how much advertisement space will GM buy and no matter how much bullshit will +Tadge Juechter spout off to bait the senile and gullible aging buyers.

And so, here it is, the Motor Trend annual Best Driver's Car event, with the latest Corvette flagship as one of the favorite competitors and... Even though the GM's most capable Corvette ever managed to score the fourth lapt time, it ended up on the absolute bottom of the list as a matter of fact, given all factors considered to determine the best driver's car, according to that car magazine.

Here are the track lap times:

2016 Mercedes AMG GT S - 1:35.57
2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 - 1:37.43
2016 Cadillac CTS-V - 1:38.53
2015 Corvette Z06 - 1:38.60 (Mechanical Issues)
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe (8AT) - 1:39.65
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe (6MT) - 1:40.18
2015 Mercedes AMG C63 S - 1:40.50
2015 Lexus RC F - 1:43.20
2015 Bentley Continental GT3-R - 1:43.51
2015 VW Golf R - 1:46.95
2016 Mazda MX-5 (Club) - 1:56.58

And here is the overall pecking order of the best driver's cars, according to Motor Trend:

1. Mercedes AMG GT S

2. Porsche Cayman GT4

3. Mazda MX-5 Miata

4. Mercedes AMG C63 S
re
5. Bentley Continental GT3-R

6. Cadillac CTS-V

7. Cadillac ATS-V

8. Lexus RC F

9. VW Golf R

10. Chevy Corvette Z06 (Z07)

Yes, the most capable Corvette ever made the absolute bottom of this list and in fact, broke down, failing to deliver any meaningful boost from the undersized hair dryer disguised as the Eton TVS1740 supercharger.

Apparently, the most capable Corvette ever decided to retard the timing to the point where its output remained at the levels delivered by the base C7 Stingray but unfortunately, the porker flagship delivered that neutered level of power carrying extra 200 pounds or so...

As already stated, the newest flagship both automatic and manual transmission versions, with or without Z07 option break down at will, either severely overheating its engine or transmission or differential or for the first time ever, power steering but apparently no such case this time.

What could have happened here?  Will Juechter deliver another defective filter fairy tale?  Not at all, as a matter of fact, there is a new fairy tale, involving California 91 octane gasoline that supposedly wreaked havoc on the  flagship's "brains", retarding the timing (in fear?) preventing knocking.

Of course, this bullshit is DOA due to the fact that Juechter and his crew supposedly had this issue handled after the first run at VIR but... apparently not!!!

Then again, since the car miraculously did not overheat or so it is said and just retarded the timing as apparently part of the track preparation ritual.

Perhaps, there was another reason, one that Juechter does not want to advertise although it is one that keep so called engine oil CATCH CAN suppliers in business?

Considering the car is a press issue, with various magazine writers actually driving the car instead of having it delivered to the nearest cars and coffee, maybe this is what is under the turdy supercharger cover?

Certainly, oil in the intake and air stream would do the trick, causing knocking and subsequent timing retardation.  Will Juechter ever explain what happen?  Honestly, this guy is such a liar, it would be a great idea for him to just remain silent.  The less this douchebag says, the less disappointed the buyers will be   after the reality fails once again to follow the advertising fiction.

Nevertheless, the piece of shit broke down and ended up at the bottom of the list, while the new Mercedes AMG GT grabbed the top prize.  Ironically enough, the newest Mercedes is even more overweighed and more underpowered than Z06 but this is a different story,  with the point being that at least that car finished the competition, without any damage just as did all the other cars.

By now, this continuous string of breakdowns at the hand of the automotive press and its testers should really send red flags to the buyers but since sheep is sheep, these idiots will be following thier master Tadge all the way off the cliff...  Hmmm....

Of course, one cannot help but wonder what the actual impacts of the breakdown and its timing were but overall, it seems rather convenient way for this plastic piece of shit to break down and blame its subpar performance on another whimsical issue.  Did Juechter piss off the car gods somehow?  Try that approach Tadge, maybe you can make it a 2fer while explaining that Nurburgring laptime.

    1. Thankfully, there is plenty of people refusing to admit it-where would the entertainment come from otherwise?

    2. It is kinda fun to listen to people defend something that is so obviously shitty. Good times.

  2. What track was that, and how was it configured? The MB GT is not the greatest handling car, it is a nice daily driver, and I would love one.

    1. Oh, there's the problem right there!! Laguna Seca has a hill that you have to climb to get to the corkscrew. Shit, what were they thinking??? That C7 can't drive around a track AND climb hills!!! Idiots. It's not the car's fault. You feed it 91 octane fuel and expect it to climb a hill and turn corners. Unreal. Whoever picked Laguna Seca for the test should be fired.
