As it is and expectantly, GM and the genius behind the current generation of Corvette, +Tadge Juechter refuse to acknowledge any defects and systematic problems related to the LT4 engine but of course, denial does not make this brewing cluster fuck go away, it is there and it continues to spread like a textbook of corporate herpies.
Here is another example of LT4 problems, most likely related to the AFM related valvetrain hardware, perhaps valve lash caps or hmmm... rocker arms? Either way, this engine appears to be a toast and most likely will be bumping up the number of LT4 catastrophic failures beyond that count of 347. Without any doubt, the number of these disasters continue to grow.
As it is already, if there were not enough other reasons to turn the newest flagship into a certified piece of shit, these cars also proudly carry the tradition of systematic engine flaws that will put the previous LS7 nightmare to shame. On the bright side, this particular piece of Z06 shit will not be overheating its engine or automatic transmission or steering rack anytime soon...
More fucking LT4 problems? GM should just recall every single one regardless of mods or not and give them brand new engines once the figure out what is wrong with that piece of shit (sorry shit I don't mean to offend you).

ReplyDeleteThe lifters are a weak point on the DOD engines. Looks like it is remove the heads time for this motor.
ReplyDeleteOnly those that AFM deactivates, hehe. This knock is very loud and increases with RPMs a lot, seriously doubt it is just a collapsed lifter. Owners of GM 5.3l pick up trucks know all about these issues.

ReplyDeleteThese AFM problems are not new, this shit has been going on for many years. There are thousands of pick up trucks with these problems and even C6R had the same problem when GM tried to force the AFM on C6 but somehow, it is back and it is causing more problems.
DeleteYou'd think GM would learn after the shitty first gen AFM having problems with lifters. Now we know why GM eliminated the 100k mile warranty is because engine failures is their thing.
ReplyDeleteI am actually not sure why they offered 100k in the first place, not like GM does not know about problems with 5.3l. Facts do not matter to C7 buyers but they are already learning, the hard way.
DeleteGM did that in response to Ford bumping their powetrain warranty to 5yr/60k. Obviously they were being cocky and one upping Ford without researching how their fuck ups (engines) would cost them.
