One of the Corvette myths was its E85 performance, the bullshit that was dished out back during the introduction of the newest flagship by the already iconic +Tadge Juechter who alluded quite frequently to the whimsical proportions of performance fortification the newest flagship would be gaining from use of E85 fuel (just like the base Stingray before).
Of course, as with anything else that automotive prophet Juechter predicted, absolutely jackshit came to fruition regarding that E85 pipe dream. Even though the senile majority of the newest Corvette buyers already forgot that part, a few apparently still do and it appears they are actually worse off this way.
This video is right down funny, clearly demonstrating the impotence of the self proclaimed supercar, losing out not only to the C5 Z06 but of all things, a lowly Dodge Neon SRT4 from quite distant past as well.
How could this be? How can a Dodge Neon dispense such a bitch slapping to the certified supercar? Could those ground effects be the reason and a convenient excuse? Not with such a difference in final speeds, with Neon hitting 169 while the certified piece of shit can muster only 149 mph. Furthermore, if this Z06 is supposed to be a supercar, what does this make the C5 Z06 and even more so the Dodge Neon? Apparently Dodge Neon is way up there, beyond the hypercars and alongside Koenigsegg and SSC perhaps?
The real question here is if the Z06 flagship cannot pass 149 mph on E85 and "tune", how is this piece of shit going to compete on tracks where speed on straights is well beyond that pathetic 149 mph (like at Nurburgring...).
One cannot help but wonder if Bruce Jenner owns the newest Z06. If he does, it is easy to understand why no surgery would be necessary while going from Bruce to Kait... This new piece of shit is not just a penis shrinker, it apparently makes that appendage fall off altogether. Hah!!!
LMFAO ! on the bruce jenner analogy
ReplyDeleteComparing modified cars with completely disparate states of tune in order to draw conclusions about said cars in base form is absolutely retarded and shows a complete lack of knowledge about cars and tuning in general.
ReplyDeleteWith enough work a Fox body mustang can easily reach into 9 second 1/4 mile. Would you then use the performance of this modified car to make far reaching declarations about the relative performance of a Fox body mustang in relation to any other car that this modified car is faster than?
You probably would and that would be stupid.
You better learn what supercar means. Between the E85 and the tune to account for it, that piece of junk was supposed to fly and it is far from it. This failure cannot even keep up with a modified C5 Z06.
DeleteOn the modified car thing: first of all it's a fucking Neon. It would have been cooler if it was a fox body mustang. However if you are driving a $100,000 corvette that GM claims is their highest horsepower production "Super Car" ever with 650hp and 650lb ft of torque I personally would be embarrassed loosing to a couple of pimple faced teenagers with a tuned 4 cylinder 4 door passenger car that is good on gas and cheap on insurance. Let's face it even a couple of kids with some tuning ability, a larger turbo, exhaust and some other bolt ons just proved to GM engineers they can build a faster car for a lets just say 1/5 of the cost.
ReplyDeleteUltraperio, the new corvette Z06 in "base form" is 650hp, Hoo-Ray for the tuner boys in the Neon. All Peter is attempting to do here is educate people on the fact the new Corvette is Overly Hyped, Overpriced, Heavy, Unreliable, Horribly assembled, Poorly Painted, And the new LT4 Supercharged Powerplants are future boat anchors. GM should have closed its doors years ago before the bailout that cost taxpayers over 10 billion. But of course we should all just eat the shit sandwich GM is serving up because it's an American car manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteBetween the tune and E85 gas, the vette should be good for minimum 50 hp. The mods on the Neon are without any doubt cheaper than that Z07 option alone and Neon is 20 mph faster at the end of 1/2 mile run - sounds like Juechter should be learning from the Neon guys, LOL.
DeleteI would argue that the z06 wasnt made for straights. But then again it wasnt made for the track either due to EZ overheating. So i ask you the ultimate question which I know Tadge Juechter wont give us an answer. What was it made for?
ReplyDeleteIf it was made for track, it would be light and naturally aspirated, if it was made for high speeds and straight runs, it would be aerodynamic. If it was made to run, it would have adequate cooling.
DeleteThe only logical answer is that it was made to generate profits among sellers who never intended to validate any claims that were made by GM. The only problem is the car failed to deliver the bragging rights from the ring and then from press reviews.
It was mad for "cars and coffee" silly wabbit.
DeleteHahahah "mad" whoops. The other thing I noticed is it seemed as though the Neon driver was a little "asleep at the wheel" for the Z06 run. I'd reckon if he got a good launch it would have been far closer.
