To be exact, as of now, there is 1276 unsold Corvettes C7 Z06 creating a visual nuissance on +General Motors dealers lots. To further break down the numbers, 168 are unsold 2015 "flagships".
Breaking down these numbers further, 364 flagships are equipped with manual transmission and the rest of course, with that "shifting faster than PDK 8-speed slush box"
To put things in a better perspective, there is still over 80 unsold 2014 Stingray, with the total number of unsold base Corvettes exceeding 3400.
What do these numbers mean? To put it mildly, the initial demand for the new flagship is already gone and permanently so, joining the base Stingray in the discounting game... Furthermore, this is even worse news to the people trying to get rid of their flagships for various reasons, based on the already available wholesale information, the typical Z06 owners faces a loss of about 30% while attempting to unload their pride and joy and this is before the winter sets in permanently and discounting really takes off (currently, the typical discount on 2016 Corvette Z06 is about $5200 and unsold 2015 at about $10,400).
Of course, as heftier discounting takes off, the money offered by the dealers for the used flagships will take a plunge as well although as it is usually happening, the buyer will have a strong chance to purchase a brand new flagship for not much more than the used counterparts.
Considering the news class action suit against GM filed recently by the owners of the previous generation of Z06 continues to make, the number of unsold flagships should grow by quite a few more cars shortly since GM likes to keep the UAW crew happy and does not reduce Corvette production rates during the winter months (except for the Christmas/New Year shut down) creating quite a pile up in Bowling Green plant back lots, keeping Michelin firmly in business due to the summer only tires tending to crack quite frequently in freezing temperatures.

Although the 2016 Camaro SS is a great value it will hurt the already flopping Stingray. Hopefully shit quality in the Camaros LT1 doesn't fucking blow as bad as the Corvette. The leather SS is also based at $42k which fucks buyers to the shit V6.
ReplyDeleteIt will but since this is camaro, the problems will not be as nearly as visible and publicized as with Corvette.
Deletei finally bit the bullet and bought a used A8 c7 z06. yes its far from perfect with annoyting tire skip and hot air through vents and stiff ride in track mode but its not that bad if you dont track it. so the QC as in all Chevys is a little weak too but I am used to that with my Cobalt SS. not very good QC but still a fun drive
