Corvette C7 Stingray front bumper design and clearance-finally a senior citizen friendly Corvette

In spite of +Tadge Juechter  claims of attracting new and younger buyers to the newest Corvette, there  is no doubt that the newest Corvette is very friendly the senior citizen crowd.  In fact, this has to be the silver hair friendliest Corvette ever.  From the higher sills to wider seats, plenty of effort has been made to make the access and drivability easy for those with the spirit  still willing but the body and physical abilities lacking behind.

Nannies such as hill climb assist, launch assist and push button parking brake certainly make life much easier for a typical senior citizen.

But there is another accommodation for silver hair crowd: the design of the front bumper of the car.  Unlike with the two previous generations of Corvette, the bottom edge of the front bumper sits so high that it could fool a few four wheelers into thinking the newest Corvette comes with a low range transfer case.

Why is the front clearance so big?  Certainly not for aerodynamic reasons or due to packaging issues.

To put it simply, the front clearance is there to accommodate those who cannot stay alert long enough to deal with speed bumps, steeper driveways and other obstacles that tend not to be an issue for the younger crowd.   What makes the matter worse is the presence of the fangs, the fangs certainly make the front clearance very obvious.

The trick seems to be working, old people like this new Corvette a lot, certainly much easier to deal with than the more hardcore versions from the past.  Sad but true.
