As of now, the 8-speed auto 2015 Z06 +General Motors flagships still sit outside of the Bowling Green, KY, Corvette assembly plant. The back up and so called "quality control hold" begun on January 16, 2015. If the temperature was already freezing last time this blog mentioned this issue, raising the concern regarding great likelihood of summer only Michelin cracking, things just got considerably worse. The temperatures in Bowling Green shifted considerably lower, into single digits, at night.
Considering the high engine power output and high performance advertised by GM for this car, allowing the tires to crack, right at the factory, is right down reckless. The problem here is two fold actually: one problem relates to immediate safety hazard but there is also another one, a shortage of Z06 specific tires and lack of qualified tire shops capable of tire swap.
Is this situation unavoidable? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! There is absolutely no reason why GM cannot temporarily hold production of these cars until the reason for the hold is resolved. There is a point where consideration for buyers safety and convenience should prevail over projected profits. Apparently neither +Tadge Juechter or anyone else in GM gives a flying fuck about anything not related to profits. Pretty easy to understand why GM is in such a mess with ignition switch failures and related fatalities-it is all self inflicted and what is even more obvious is the fact that GM refuses to learn from its own mistakes.
Pretty ironic to see that Corvette C7 owner manuals are so clear about not even moving the car around in the temperatures in the 20's, yet somehow, GM itself chooses to ignore its own precautions. Hmmm...

Morons,leaving 80k cars outside,in freezing weather like that.SA.
