http://corvettec7fiasco.blogspot.com/2014/06/will-supercharger-on-corvette-c7-z06.html. In fact, the problem was so massive and failures so numerous that +General Motors issued a still active recall on those superchargers, used on Camaro ZL1 and Cadillac CTS V cars and decided to extend the warrany on the superchargers, up to 100k miles.
The problem, strictly related to sloppy quality control and fast spinning small supercharger, apparently did not inspire +Tadge Juechter and his crew to learn anything as in fact, the supercharger on the newest flagship, C7 Z06 is even smaller and even faster spinning.
Unfortunately and as predicted, the exact same problem starts happening to the newest flagship, causing supercharger bearings to fail and cause the turdy little heat pump to seize up. Although right now, there are only a few known failed supercharger instances known, this problem is not going to disappear on its own and it is slated to cause the not so bright Z06 buyers just as much headaches as it did to the Camaro and CTS V buyers. The one difference here is the absolute lack of qualified dealer help to work on the newest flagship and this thing alone will cause even more nightmare for the Corvette sheep than it did for Caddilac and Camaro owners.
Again, it is absolutely amazing how unwilling to learn from its own mistakes GM is but not surprising at all.
If the newest flagship was not all around failure (well beyond its lowly base version), the reasons to call it an absolute piece of shit just continue to keep pouring in.
The cts v and zl1 had different superchargers. Which are made by eaton and found on many cars such as fords as well.
ReplyDeleteYou fucking moron, learn to read before spouting off. Nobody besides GM uses those midget blowers on large displacement pushrod motors, and spinning so fast. Now, go back under the rock, with the rest of kool aid drinkers.
DeleteWhat does the engine being a pushrod have to do with anything? Nothing.
DeleteNot to mention that the TVS1740 can spin faster exactly because it is smaller. Smaller vanes means you can spin it faster. Bigger does not equal better.
Rub your hat hanger first slow and fast to learn some basic stuff about friction, including fiction of air, you tool.
