Aftermarket sponsored special olympics in aerodynamics continue with 2015 and 2016 Corvette C7 Z06 and C7 Stingray

One of the "trademarks" of the newest generation of +General Motors Chevrolet Corvette is the well established fact that is a true aerodynamic disaster and not just in one area of these cars but all around, beginning at the front, with the idiotic and purpose defeating fangs, all around and under the car and all the way to the rear, culminating in the barn door up top and turbulent hole underneath (right below the vomit inducing rear end).

Of course, as pointed out a while ago, when +Tadge Juechter and his crew fail to deliver on more of the pseudo aerodynamic design and features typically found on other, more effective designs, there is always the aftermarket to fill in the void, cashing in on the Corvette owners gullibility.

Nothing is more representative of this situation than the aftermarket supplied rear diffuser that is not only failing to perform its functions but as a matter of fact, makes the aerodynamic mess considerably worse.

Although already mentioned in this blog, time to further reinforce the point, using this photo.  So here it is, more carbon fiber lipstick.  What makes this situation truly stupid is the fact that not only there is no smooth transistion from the car's undertray to the rear diffuser (cannot happen of course since there is no real smooth undertray on the latest Corvette) but under careful examination, there is something resembling a minature version of the barn door up top, looking no less than an AIR BRAKE!!!  Now, why would anyone do this?  This is not just stupid but extremely counterproductive as well.

  1. Hahaha...... Why did they do it? I'll tell ya why. They took one look at the Viper ACR and said, "Hey, look at that big wing on the back. We can do that too, can't we?"
