Shoddy quality of aftermarket parts further compounds fit and finish problems of Corvette C7 Stingray and Z06

The unfortunate fact that +General Motors has no intention whatsoever to improve body panel fitment and paint quality problems is already well established and unless these problems somehow contribute to safety of the buyers, absolutely nothing will change throughout the entire run of this generation of Corvette.  As a matter of fact, as the years go by, it will be the optimistc outcome.

Nevertheless, if these cars had not enough quality issues, the aftermarket somehow decided to follow the GM approach and add its share of problems as well.

Shown below are a few examples of this truly shitty quality that apparently has no impact on the buyers.  Perhaps this is something expected from people who gladly accept cars in condition that would make them great candidates for salvaged car auctions and scrapyards?  Nevertheless, here are the examples of these abominations...

The first one, the rear spoiler that certainly lives up to its name, spoiling aesthetics instead of air flow.  The gap between the rear deck and that piece of junk is very impressive, allowing daylight to shine through.  Maybe the gap should be filled in with some LED's?  LOL

Here is another, a peculiar one considering this is coming from supposedly renowned supplier named Caravaggio.  Although the name sounds italian, insinuating an Old World craft of italian masters, the reality is not as pleasant as one would expect.  The "master" crafting his shit in Canada falls short of the expectations, literally short as shown by the side skirts that fail to cover the entire length of the rocker panel.

What is just as interesting is the design of this piece of shit, with the bottom edges of the parts looking like cut off with a hacksaw instead of being folded in to create more rigidity and at least pretend to be aerodynamically functional.  No, carbon fiber cannot compensate for such an attrocity.  Yes, this lousy design speeds up the manufacturing and cheapens the cost of molds but the result is a true piece of shit, ready to be chipped off over next speed bump the geriatric Corvette buyer fails to see.

And here is another one, just as shitty and just as puzzling.  This is an attempt by another aftermarket company, this one called RPI at a front splitter (that does not split anything) and side air curtains/finishers.  Somehow, the splitter and finishers fail the mating ritual and refuse to align.  What happened here?  Is this supplier using UAW belonging quality control personnel?  Looks like this just may be the case.  What happened to the attention to the detail, making parts fit and align, setting the aftermarket ahead of GM?  Pretty obvious none of this happens here.

Of course, just like with the cars themselves, as long as dumb buyers continue buying, the aftermarket has no motivation to improve anything and continue to produce this shit at will, with plenty of idiots anxious to part with their money and dress their cars with this garbage.

  1. Check out the panel fitment on the Grey one. The lower front section of the door does not align with the front fender and the rear panel does not match with the rear piece. Is this buy design?

  2. That spoiler is fucking ridiculous!!!! The rest of the stuff is just crap to hang off the poorly painted and poorly fitted body panels of the car. The aftermarket manufacturers have simply provided similar fit an finish to the product GM has given them as a starting point. I mean, why bother trying to make a quality functional product, when you are attaching it to a piece of shit. They know full well that whoever buys a C7 has already demonstrated a complete lack of interest in quality and craftsmanship, and they are ignorant to what a true piece of automotive excellence should look and feel like. So, why bother putting in the extra effort and hence the extra cost? The sheep are going to buy the shit anyway, and they'll probably never notice how shitty it fits, how worthless it performs, and how absolutely fucking stupid it makes their car look. Makes perfect sense to me. :)
