No matter how much +General Motors and morons like +Tadge Juechter and Harlan Charles claim the newest Corvette is a world class car and no matter how much the gullible buyers want to buy into this marketing bullshit, the reality is rather brutal, continuously exposing the cheapness of the car and the walmart like mentality of the company that produces this car.
The old saying "the devil is in the details" fully applies to the newest Corvette, regardless of its designation and pricetag, it is nothing short of a ghetto rigged and blinged out off the shelf kit car.
Those details include cheap and ancient infotainment center, inferior leather like upholstery materials, cheap interior and exterior plastics, lowest quality vinyl and on and on and on...
However, if there is one item that examplifies this cheapness it is the emblem that resides on the seatback of the supposedly great new seats.
As already mentioned on this blog in the past, the new seats are nothing short of a bullshit job and reality, changed very little from the previous generation.
The previous generation seats structurally were bordering a true embarrassment, complete with piano wire/two spring lower cushion system that was grossly inadequate. Lacking was the structural wire for proper lateral thigh support, the sharp edged and flexible fiberglass back shell lacked the rigidity and real (individual and adjustable) headrests were missing. The "leather" itself resembled a painted onion peels instead of upholstery grade quality hide.
How do the new seats compare? In a nutshell, they actually changed very little because in spite of that titanium structure and available carbon fiber, structurally they remained virtually unchanged.
However, what got worse is the attention to the detail, apparently a move to save a few bucks? Unlike with the previous generation, the decorative insignia changed from embroidery to super ghetto plastic emblems coated to resemble metal. These emblems do not only look cheap but also break very easily because they hook up very easily to the occupants clothing and break at will. The problem with the ghetto emblems is the fact that they are secured to the seatbacks from the inside of the seat and in order to replace the broken ones, the seatback upholstery has to be removed.
The problems with these shitty emblems continue to annoy the owners of these seats and although GM made a pathetic attempt to "correct" the screw up by recessing them slightly, they still break.
Until this day, the emblems are still there, hooking up to clothing and breaking and apparently GM has no intention to fix them by replacing them with actual embroidery. Certainly, the schizm between marketing bullshit and real life continues, cementing the fate of the newest Corvette as a cheap piece of shit. Sad but not surprising at all.

World class dumpster.
ReplyDeletethis is sooo stupid. Why would they not use cloth ? This is worse then a TOY stuffed animal. lol
ReplyDeleteEmbroidery costs extra and has to be done domestically. Emblems are cheap when made in China.
DeleteLet those babies cook in the sun all day and then Brand the Owner and his Wife/Girlfriend on the back of the neck with a cross flag emblem. Nice
ReplyDeleteNo kidding there, maybe this is GM's big plan? Branding those idiots like the cattle they are.
