Like with the rest of the automotive press, +Motor Trend is no longer in love or even infatuation with the +General Motors latest and at least according to +Tadge Juechter , "most capable Corvette ever".
Considering the number of misadventures suffered by the staffers of various automotive publications, one cannot blame MT staffers for most likely expressing at least some hesitation while testing that self proclaimed end to all Corvettes. Subsequently, the same goes for Randy Pobst, a well recognized professional driver who has already experienced several times what happens when Juechter and company either can't or won't get their shit together to present the testing body with full functional example of so called "certified supercar".
Nevertheless, just a couple of weeks ago, the news of the latest C7 Z06 testing failure and embarrassment surfaced, with MT and Randy Pobst once again, dealing with the consequences of the misbehaving C7 Z06 while being tested against the latest Dodge Viper ACR and Porsche GT3 RS.
To call the Z06 handful would be a gross understatement, handling like a true piece of shit would be considerably more accurate. Considering that the lame excuse presented by Juechter, blaming the humiliation on a combination of out of specification suspension adjustments and Randy Pobst's alleged inability to handle the newest flagship already wore off super thin, the newest Z06 managed to assure its well deserved reputation as an underdesigned, overpowered and half ass executed piece of automotive shit, completely unfit for track duties (unless a driver has a strong death wish as the driving force).
If there were any doubts about what exactly happened at Laguna Seca, during testing the new ACR, GT3 RS and C7 Z06, the follow up MT article leaves no such doubts. As a matter of fact, the C7 Z06 has been officially called a piece of shit on the track, resolving any doubts about the Nurburgring fiasco.
“The Z06’s livability evaporates on track, where it reveals itself to be a bit of a handling disgrace,”
So where did the flagship manage to win over the competing cars?
Did it brake shorter than others? NOPE, Viper ACR did however.
Did it win the quarter mile run? NOPE, the 500 hp GT3 RS did.
Did it win the Laguna Seca lap? NOPE, Viper ACR did.
The flagship did win however being the cheapest and allegedly producing the highest lateral acceleration, subsequently winning the figure 8 competition. The car also scored highest in the cargo capacity, lowest price and highest horsepower rating, along with the highest gas mileage figure and highest weight.
Unfortunately, those dubious "victories" just further served to prove how much of a failure this newest Corvette flagship piece of shit really is: a cheaply made substitute for a real high performance car, giving the buyers exactly what they paid for. Furthermore, as clearly indicated by MT, it is not much of a sports or race car, it is a glorified poser, without any real life capabilities extending beyond the sales brochure and Juechter's assurances.
The biggest irony of this latest bitch slapping event? While GM introduced the new flagship as the ultimate "track weapon", it never designed it as such- unlike Chrysler that let its car do the talking ON THE TRACK.
Hopefully, this will be the last of GM and Juechter trying to present the joke called C7 Z06 as something it never was and never will be- regardless of the bullshit track options and gaudy ground effect disguises.

The C7 Z06 is all hype 650hp and 650lbs of torque sounds cool until limp mode or implosion happens. From what I have read who in the hell would be stupid enough to buy one? People do your research!!!! This car along with GM is at least 10 years behind in tech and design. Got to hand it to GMs marketing department though, they could sell ketchup Popsicles to women wearing white gloves.
ReplyDeleteThe world is full of stupid people, fucking obama got elected twice-why wouldn't there be enough idiots out there to buy the newest Corvette? LOL
DeleteJordan's comments are awesome and spot on. I did my research for over 18 months. I looked carefully at the 360 Modena, F430, Gallardo, C7 Z06, Porsche 911 Turbo, R8, etc. I quickly noticed on the Corvetteforum.com that those guys were having nothing but trouble with their cars (so were the Ferrari guys, but they didn't buy a bargain basement "supercar" so they have the cash to roll like that and not bitch about it), and not just little trouble. Engines imploding, electrical systems failing, on and on........ To make matters worse, GM was dicking them around, and many of them were without their cars for in the neighbourhood of 6 months!!!! I decided on the 2013 SRT Viper GTS, and I couldn't be happier.
ReplyDeleteThe honeymoon is over with the automotive journalists and the C7 Z06. Now they have to live with the bitch. Not only is she not putting out, she is trying to kill them. Hahahahaha........serves them right.
To be honest.. I purchased one of the first 2015 z06 cars. I assembled the engine at the performance build center in Bowling Green. My car has the Z07 package with all visible carbon fiber package. Did museum delivery. I paid $116,000.00 for the car. That was M.S.R.P. with no mark up from Kerbeck. I picked up the car at the museum and drove it back to Houston by way of a route through the mountains of Kentucky through North Carolina down to Atlanta and back to Houston. All this was to get the break in miles on the car before going all out with it. After..... I drove the shit out of this car. Went to the track at M.S.R. in Angleton, Texas. Was a beast....no problems at all. Now don't get me wrong, I was not all out racing the car ... just fun. But let me tell you ...I love the car. And by the way it is an 8 speed auto trans car.
ReplyDeleteI do fun runs with Mclaren, Ferrari and Lambo guys..my car is bone stock with the 100 octane fuel up grade which I have never put 100 octane in at this point. Hey guys ...no problems at all. Just my piece on the subject.
I own a 2012 GTR, a 1995 triple black C4 w/ 383 stroker with v2T trim vortec pushing 550 to the tire, a 1971 olds 442 modified with every performance option you can imagine, a 2007 nissan nismo 350 Z, and 6 other vehicles in my garage. I tell this because just want you to know that I am a car nut.
I was waiting on the Cadillac ATS V to come out when the C7 Z06 was first introduced. In retrospect I went all out with an every single option order for it. Mainly because of all the hoopla about it.
