However, no matter how irrational a purchase of a high powered two seat car, by design destined to take many gray haired portly car enthusiasts directly from point A to point A, there is always the matter of purchase justification.
For the latest generation of Corvette, this justification includes the usual reasons: quicker and faster off the line performance, superior handling and braking and of course, world class interior combined with futuristic exterior, swaying exotic car buyers and persuading them to abandon their Lamborghinis, Ferraris and McLarens for the privilege of driving America's finest sports car at a fraction of what they would pay otherwise.
In reality, the Holywood script written by +Tadge Juechter and GM marketing department is just it, a script, still waiting for a skillful producer and director to become a reality. As a matter of fact, the reality of the latest generation of Corvette is not even remotely resembling the script described above. Instead, the newest generation of Corvette is consistently cementing its reputation as a true failure, plagued with embarrassing quality control issues and variety of mechanical and electronic failures and defects, turning the ownership into a true nightmare for many buyers.
Of course, nothing demonstrates this better than the misfortunes of the latest Corvette flagship model, the C7 Z06 "certified supercar". In a nutshell, the newest flagship never delivered on any of the claims made by its creator, Juechter. Marketed as a spiritual successor to the previous generation Z06 that just happened to be considerably more powerful and according to Juechter, C6 ZR1 superior replacement, the new flagship failed to fully surpass either of the previous generation's high performance models, Z06 and ZR1. On the track, the overweight and brick like new flagship overheats on the fly delivering a short hero lap as an exception, assuming there is no mechanical breakdown and engine and transmission manage to survive. On open roads, the new flagship pays the price for truly insane ambitions of Juechter to make it a credible track car, it literally has no mid range acceleration and runs out at the top end considerably faster than even the base Corvette of the previous generation (again, assuming that engine and transmission hold up).
Needless to say, in lieu of the expected track and street validation, the bragging rights for the newest flagship are nothing short of a joke, leaving the frustrated owners to their own creativity, mainly drag strip and so called ROLL RACING.
Courtesy of another failure, an asshole calling himself Obama, the majority of US has been already turned into slums of Tijuana, providing a great explanation why the roll racing supposedly takes place in Mexico. But here is a big problem: the newest flagship still lets its buyers down, as demonstrated in this video. Does the new flagship need some afterburners to finally make it go? Seems this way...
First, on the track...
And then, on the street. Where are the afterburners for C7 Z06? LOL
Great view of those ROUND tail lights
