This blog pointed out in the past that there is nothing more deceiving than so called internet "forums" and those that allow unbiased exchange of facts and opinions are a seldom exception to a rather depressing overall rule.
However, if the discussion aspects of these places are bad, forcing their members to subscribe to joint mediocrity and impeded mental capacity, their financial aspects are considerably worse.
The root of this evil lies in the financial motivation behind people owning these forums. Yes, it is the motivation to generate revenues and not car enthusiasm that motivates these places to exist. Specifically, these forums allow vendors to both advertise and then saturate those forums with their marketing spam disguised as "informative threads".
On the surface, this appears to be a great opportunity for car enthusiasts to familiarize themselves with available products and get great deals at the same time.
The problem however, lies in the well established fact that with so called forum sponsorship, comes a build in protection for the vendors, offering them a great opportunity to rip the dim witted forum members off and get away with it.
The case in point is the place called corvetteforum.com and vendor using name Apsis. This vendor has been mentioned on this blog on several occasions, due to the at best uninspiring products priced super high but apparently, this is not the biggest problem with this particular vendor.
As shown in this video, the outrageous pricing is no guarantee for superior product, in fact, the opposite.
Looking at several other sources, such as this one:

and this one
http://ls1tech.com/forums/corvette-performance/1235949-stay-away-apsis-usa.html
and this one
http://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/business-reviews/auto-parts-and-supplies-new/apsis-usa-inc-in-huntington-station-ny-138939/complaints/
a question begs to be asked, why shady businesses as this one are even allowed to conduct their business among car enthusiasts? The latest generation of +General Motors Chevrolet Corvette is already a miserable experience to many unsuspecting buyers, why make it even worse?
