How does General Motors advertise 2017 Corvette C7 Grand Sport? Another case of marketing deception

As this blog already showed+General Motors and +Tadge Juechter dealt another offensive blow to the memory of the creator of the original Corvette Grand Sport, Zora Arkus-Duntov.  Although this part is already established, why not look at the actual language +General Motors marketing department uses to promote this insult.

Right from the Chevrolet.com website,

The latest member of the Corvette lineup, the 2017 Grand Sport carries on the racing spirit of the original 1963 model, combining the power of the legendary LT1 6.2L engine with a lightweight, race-bred chassis and aerodynamics package to provide incredible grip and handling.

Really GM, you is serious publishing this bullshit?  This is not just misleading, it is an outright marketing fraud to claim the overweight Z06 look alike has anything even remotely related to that ubiquitous 1962/63 Grand Sport Duntov created.  In fact, besides having four wheels, two seats and engine in front of the driver, that spirit disappears completely.  Ironically enough, even the Grand Sport livery is not only incorrect but instead of being painted on the car, it is just some typical vinyl film in the most predictable GM manner (cannot call it a style because it is so ghastly).

Predictably, the myth of "light weight chassis" appears, implying that that light weight chassis (and it really is not that light weight or rigid as it could be) magically translates in a featherweight car with racing heritage, fully capable to live up to its name.

To the credit of GM marketing department, these folks have a great sense of humor, considering not only there is nothing legendary about the LT1 turd (unless overheating counts) but flawed aerodynamics and increased drag and rolling resistance make it actually slower than the base Stingray.  And the grip and handling?  Hopefully Randy Pobst will have a chance to clarify this claim shortly (assuming he is still willing to drive another C7 death trap even remotely close to its claimed performance limits).
