The reasons why Corvette C7 Stingray will never sway Porsche and BMW owners

+Tadge Juechter and the rest of the fine Corvette team, along with +General Motors marketing geniuses can claim all they want regarding new Corvette being a valid alternative to current owners and potential buyers of Porsche, BMW, Jaguar and Aston Martin brands but the reality is that this will never ever happen.

IF there is anyone who indeed makes this move, it will be an exception.  The thing about exceptions is that they would not be there without rules that make them possible.

So why exactly will this never ever happen?

The answer is very simple:

1.  Corvette is sold and serviced through General Motors dealers.

Apparently Juechter never paid a visit to the dealerships that sell the cars he claims he will be stealing customers from?  The difference between these dealerships and General Motors (just like Ford and Chrysler) is night and day.

There is no way to describe both buying and service experience through any General Motors dealership as a positive one.   To gain a good experience, there has to be courteous sales staff and competent service department.

AS A RULE, the possibility of both happening at the same General Motors dealership is ZERO.
Anyone who has ventured to a General Motors dealership while shopping for a car will very likely experience an urgent need to take a long shower right afterwards.  The rudeness of the sales staff, their arrogance and condescending attitudes are a given.

At the same time, the competency and General Motors service department should not even be used in the same sentence.  Again, a long hot shower afterwards is a given.

Want to see what it should be?  A visit to the nearest BMW or Porsche dealership should resolve any doubts.  The difference is truly like night and day.  The customers are actually treated with respect and without assuming they just progressed from a primate while buying negotiations or service are being conducted.

2. NO TEST DRIVES for new Corvette.

Now, honestly, Tadge Juechter truly has to have shit for brains expecting anyone driving a Porsche or BMW to rely on the word of the sleazy salesman who absolutely has no clue about Corvette to dump their current car and find out first hand what the car is all about AFTER THEY COUGH UP 70k.  Come on Tadge, are you as dumb as you look?

Here is a thought for you, go to a Porsche dealership and take a test drive in any of the cars they sell.  Then, have a long talk with your corporate handlers to copy the sales strategy, including test drives after those who you claim is your competition.

EVEN if Corvette was indeed a valid competitor (and it actually is not), you have to allow someone to make a conscious buying decision.  Only complete Corvette nut huggers choose to buy new car without a test drive.

While you are at it, take a look at their service departments and service bays.  You and rest of GM brass may do a little reality check before making those truly outrageous and stupid remarks.  Until then, try to steal customers from Ford and Chrysler, this is the only potential buyer pool you can POTENTIALLY count on.
