Corvette C7 Stingray Convertible rear window

There is no doubt that +General Motors  is all about being cheap and this fine design touch on Corvette Stingray Convertible is another example of this cheap ass design philosophy.

For a strange reason and in an obvious cost cutting attempt, the rear window of the C7 Convertible is SURFACE MOUNTED, literally glued on the backing fabric and seal of the opening.  In the event of adhesive failing, there is absolutely nothing to secure the rear window in place.

Typically, the rear glass windows in convertible tops are mounted from UNDERNEATH of the opening, with the edge of the opening helping to retain the glass in place, regardless of any other measures to secure the window in place and creating an ANTI THEFT measure at the same time.

Obviously, this is not the case with the newest Corvette, assuming that moisture does not penetrate beneath the glass eventually, all one has to do to remove the rear window is to pry it out with a suitable device such as a wide screwdriver or putty knife.

Certainly the +General Motors failed to observe that as much easier the installation of the surface mounted glass may be, so would be its REMOVAL.  Too complicated for +Tadge Juechter  and his design crew?  Apparently so... Great job as usual Tadge!!!
