Ignorance breeds more ignorance. This old truth is especially valid and applicable not to just single digit IQ Corvette enthusiasts but representatives of printed and virtual press as well.
Like with new Corvette's missing performance figures, anything regarding sales figures can be manipulated as well. Like with +Tadge Juechter yapping away about performance of the Stingray, while conveniently forgetting disclosing anything besides 0-60 and ET (for automatic transmission only), the subject of so called sales success is being manipulated by both, +General Motors and the press.
Apparently now, the sales of new Corvette jumped over 260 %!!! as compared to the same period of time in 2013. Wow, great news, right?
Not so fast... Here is the problem: the production of Corvette C6 ceased completely FEBRUARY 2013 (the Bowling Green plant was being retooled for C7 until end of June, 2013. Thus, there was no way to place an order for a car, unless someone settled for left overs on the dealers lots.
Even though there were quite a few unsold C6 on the lots, there could have been more sales should GM still accept custom orders. A quick check of the recent sales figures reveals that over 70% of the Stingrays are presold, based on the customer's specific configuration. What would happen if dealer ordered cars were the only ones available? Generation 5 Viper shows quite well what happens then.
Here is another problem: according to the subject of STATISTICS, to make meaningful comparisons, one has to gather up REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLES.
To say that only a complete idiot would be attempting to make news regarding sales increase comparing first model year versus INCOMPLETE last model year of previous generation would be very insulting to real idiots. Journalism of this variety clearly demonstrates the fact that facts are optional in anything related to the Stingray.
As a side note, it is very disappointing to see that the sales of Stingray fall so short when compared to 2005 sales of Corvette C6. Seeing Stingrays everywhere could be very entertaining.
Stingray sales increase bullshit
