As of now, it is the same ole bullshit from +Tadge Juechter how the new Z06 managed to outdo its self imposed (for +General Motors marketing purposes, in reality) competition with downforce related extraordinary handling.
Since the accomplishment is supposedly so impressive, one thing comes to mind, where are the fucking numbers Tadge? Downforce is not a subjective or whimsical quality, it can be easily quantified and broken down into specific elements to further realize the actual accomplishment.
So what gives with Corvette C7 Z06?
Attention Tadge Juechter, let me give you a hand here and supply you with the needed formulas since apparently your team must have been working with lunch napkins that apparently got tossed out and nobody can recall the actual numbers any longer.
Drag force:
Fdrag = 0.5CdAV²
Fdrag - Aerodynamic drag
Cd- Coefficient of drag
D- Air density
A- Frontal area
V- Object velocity
And here is how you calculate the downforce, Tadge:
Fdown = 0.5ClAV²
Fdown - Aerodynamic downforce
Cl- Coefficient of lift
D- Air density
A- Frontal area
V- Object velocity
So far so good? Why do we need these two numbers? To find out the downforce/drag ratio. This is the ration that separates marketing bullshit from actual facts and marketing smoke and mirrors from real data. Now, if the new Corvette Z06 manages to get more than 2 as this ratio, then there is an accomplishment, assuming the net downforce can be maintained within a reasonable range of speed.
Where are the actual numbers then? Let us find out the truth and put some substance behind the marketing hype. Could it be that the ratio is not really good, with drag exceeding or at least equaling the downforce and tires alone failing to provide enough traction? This would certainly explain why Z06 crashed at Nurburgring considerably better than this bullshit story of hitting oil slick on the track. Certainly, that oil scores high on bullshit fairy tale scale, along with the defective oil filter.
