As the old saying goes, what goes up, must come down and the higher you climb, the harder you fall. Considering how much of an instant PR nightmare the newest Corvette Z06 became, one should only hope that +Tadge Juechter has access to plenty of rear end padding from +General Motors and in a hurry!!!
In the grand scheme of things, the continuous downward spiral of the newest flagship is nothing short of poetic justice, with absolutely no sympathy to Juechter and his team of engineering magicians who turned out to be nothing more than illusionists, called out on their tricks by quite a few people by now, including Randy Pobst. By now, it is very obvious that the burn outs used to market the base Stingray cannot save the Z06 (although the smoke may become handy to disguise its premature departure?).
Marketing hype is a double edged sword, great when there is substance to back it up but absolutely horrible when real life discards with marketing bullshit and in a very brutal way.
The base Stingray is still surrounded by the foul odor generated by Nurburgring defeat, blown engines and "defective" oil filter bullshit, absolutely horrible paint and fit and finish, differential failures and of course the all time popular PDR wiretapping bust.
One would think that GM marketers and Juechter himself would learn at least some humility from this ass whooping and tone down the Z06 campaign, allowing the car to speak for itself. Of course Juechter never learned how and when to quit and thus, things repeated themselves once again.
As already expected, the flagship failed big time on Nurburgring track, then the car failed on the drag strip and now, the car continues to fail on the race track, in spite of the promises about this car being the fastest Corvette ever and the most track competent Corvette ever.
Will this failure continue? Of course it will, it is barely the beginning of winter, temperatures are low and the real fun will begin when automatic transmission cars show up on the dealers lots and ambient temperatures warm up.
Unfortunately for GM, the car cannot compensate for the mechanical and electronic faults with attractive exterior, it looks right down hideous and cheap and hastily designed, using scrapyard parts bin-not much in the matter of trade off between lack of performance and looks.
