In reality, it is not even a ZR1 successor, it is actually a Corvette clad Camaro ZL1 and Cadillac CTS V (previous generation) design methodology, i.e. cramming under designed and cheapest possible components in a car distinguished by high power rating only. Unlike the previous ZR1, gone are expensive components and car specific design, instead it is a self contained performance version of the base powerplant, with design compromises made to accommodate multiple reiterations, available as a Cadillac CTS V and Camaro ZL1.
As it happens, the first reciepient of this transferrable technology is a true piece of shit, showing serious flaws not just in Z06 specific aspects like aerodynamics and torque tube but also in the areas common to all three cars receiving this drivetrain. As a matter of fact, the entire supercharged LT4 set up is an absolute disaster, destined to cause true nightmares to the idiots purchasing these clunkers, even those who will not extend their activities beyond waxing and cars and coffee competitions.
But... there is another aspect to this fiasco, the Z06 designation picked for this piece of shit and it is playing out along Ford Pinto line more than anything else. This part can be entirely blamed on Tadge and the buyers of these pieces of shit will be learning quickly how it works and how it will affect their wallets.
Long time ago, Ford produced a car called Pinto. The car was a cheap piece of shit, made cheaply and sold cheap just like an econo box should. But... among many problems the Pinto had, was a truly deadly flaw, related to its rear mounted (right behind rear bumper) fuel tank. Due to this part, these cars became spectacular death traps for a few and the news spread like herpes. Eventually, Pinto was no more after severe damage was done to Ford.
After lesson learned, Ford never tried to come up with a new Pinto and nobody in their right mind would, why revive something that has a negative designation attached to it?
But... apparently GM is too stupid to realize this part (to be fair, +General Motors never revived the Corvair name, LOL) and instead of putting the Z06 name to rest because the trouble has been brewing for many years due to valvetrain issues and it was never resolved), the tool named Juechter decided to use this designation IMMEDIATELY after the C6 generation that is having these problems.
So now, in addition to the Z06 lawsuit making the news and total disaster during Motor Trend testing, there is another consequence of this stupid move: general public associating problems with the C6 Z06 with the newest flagship, C7 Z06. After all, Z06 is a Z06...
Ironically enough, the newest Z06 has considerably more flaws and problems than the previous one and these problems cannot be fixed fully at all and the car has a horrible reputation all on its own but now, it is also inheriting the reputation courtesy of C6 problems.
The old saying PENNY WISE, POUND FOOLISH works like a charm with GM and especially with this idiot Juechter. IF the Z06 designation had to be used for some weird reason, the thing to do would be to take care of the owners of the C6 Z06 cars first. You cannot just fuck people over, tell them to get lost while recycling the Z06 designation on a new car, this stupidity was bound to come back and bite GM and Juechter back and now, it is doing exactly its part:

As a rule of thumb, automotive press writers are very ignorant and general press writers even more so. If this is not bad enough, the public that reads their writing is just super dumb. Once the Z06 moniker gets in the circulation, the fact the problems dealt with through the lawsuit refer to the previoius generation will get lost eventually and all that will be left will be the Z06 designation. The perception of the C7 Z06 is already awful but things are slated to take turn for much worse. When perception is bad, the resale prices of used cars take a plunge on their own and due to the weak sales of new cars that have to be heavily discounted to push them off the lots.
As it is, C7 Z06 sales are dead but they will get even worse since winter and the news of the lawsuit take place at the same time. Better butter up those cheeks C7 Z06 owners!!! You will be paying dearly for the sins of the past committed by GM and Juechter's stupidity. Ouch!!!
GM has been hoping they can cover up the LS7 defects by lying to owners but thank God some of them have fucking brains and suing GM. The recent MT Z06 test where GM claims a connector was loose after bleeding air from the intercooler is horse shit. More fucking lies from the General Morons.
