Of course, one cannot help but draw unavoidable parallels with the old cunt named Hillary Clinton. Nevertheless, here is 2017 and apparently the time has come to blow more smoke at the public, attempting to convince it that this time around, the already infamous flagship finally gains some ability to last more than a few minutes under heavy duty driving conditions.
So what is the big idea from Juechter, one that is the cure to all overheating problems that continue to plague the latest flagship?
Apparently, another pathetic attempt to cure the effect instead of tackling the CAUSE is as good as it gets with the flagship. This time around, it is not an attempt to cool the engine, transmission, steering, brakes or differential, it is an all out assault on the supercharger and its cooling system (at least according to Juechter).
So what are the ingredients?
A TALLER supercharger housing lid
larger intercooler bricks
larger (?) supercharger cooling system crosspipe
What is missing from another idiotic UPGRAYEDD is a new and larger supercharger which according to Juechter was not possible due to the bulls...t EUROPEAN safety regulations requiring PEDESTRIAN IMPACT feature, consisting of two inch gap between the top of the engine assembly and the hood/bonnet.
Apparently, this is no longer any concern to Juechter and GM because the new blower lid is exactly two inches taller, needed to accommodated larger intercooler bricks.
Is there a real purpose to this UPGRAYEDD? Realistically, beyond blowing smoke up enthusiasts clueless asses and adding more weight to already obscenely heavy car, no, not really....
Yes, in theory, there should be a drop in the temperature of air and thus increase in the differential needed to add more efficiency to the supercharging cycle but in reality, no, there will be no noticable change because the air circulation in the engine compartment is just non existent as ever, the same old shitty base car air intake is still there and most of all, the same not only severely undersized but also extremely inefficient supercharger is still there.
Ironically enough, poof goes the CLAIMED reason why the undersized supercharger was already there. In reality, the undersized supercharger was there to at least somewhat improve the fuel economy due to a lesser drag on engine but at the expense of performance disaster.
The bottom line here is the C7 Z06 fix is not only unlikely, it is impossible, no matter how many worthless baits will GM throw at the unsuspecting public. To GM's credit, the current flagship has a dubious honor of being the most flawed and underperforming flagship has produced so far in the Corvette line up, since 1953... Now, what should be interesting is to see how many C7 Z06 will be jumping on the upgrade bandwagon, spending money on more worthless snake oil... There should be a few, LOL.
