2015 Corvette C7 Z06 Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires make the windshield wipers unnecessary

In the previous generation of Corvette, Michelin Sport Cup tires were offered on Corvette ZR1 as an OPTION, with PDE handling package.  This was done due to the very limited street worthiness of these tires-very limited wet handling, warm weather and fast wearing compound made these tires of very limited street use.

Apparently, there is no choice anymore and the upcoming Z06 is offered with the newest version of Sport Cup tires only.

Here is a question for +Tadge Juechter : are the windshield wipers present on the Z06?  If they are, why exactly?  No doubt the safety requirements necessitate them on any street car but wouldn't be smarter to take them out after connecting the fuel cutoff to windshield rain sensors instead?

This way, the heavy weight of Z06 could shed a few pounds while the buyers would be given the necessary safety measure to prevent killing themselves should the rain appear suddenly?
