2016 Corvette C7 Z006 3LZ interior option General Motors rip off

There is a new term +General Motors marketing department uses to fleece buyers of the upcoming Corvette Z06: DRIVER ORIENTED INTERIOR.

What it is, according to GM: a car interior designed to enhance the Corvette C7 Z06 driving experience.

What it REALLY MEANS:

Unlike with the previous generation of the Corvette, C6, instead of highest level of interior trim being applied consistently to all models of Corvette, the current most expensive model, Z06 gets only HALF of the upper level interior upgrades, including the optional colors.  Thus, unlike with the base car, the Z06 is all black and vinyl on the passenger side.at

Naturally, a logical person would expect that half of upgraded interior would cost half of the money of the fully upgraded interior on the base car but surprise surprise, the cost is exactly the same.

Cleverly enough, GM included the optional on base car flawed and obsolete navigation unit and law suit inviting PDR but... PDR is not the choice for people hoping for a touch of luxury in their next poser car, after all, waxing and cars and coffee events can be easily recorded using a cell phone camera.

To further increase leather application savings, 3LZ Z06 comes with upper synthetic suede inserts, leaving actual leather and color application to very small fraction of the interior.

Is GM clever or what?  Unless someone orders full black interior in their portly Z06, the buyer will be plunking down serious chunk of change to complete the leather and color application in their, effectively adding at least another 4k to the 8k the 3LZ option costs.

Without any doubt, this is one of the most creative marketing scams GM came up with in a long time, right after offering a Z51 option on automatic transmission equipped Stingrays and doubling the price of the POS navigation unit by making PDR mandatory with the purchase of navigation unit.

Gotta give +Tadge Juechter big credit here for being so creative.  Not only does Juechter peddles the Z51 Stingray and Z06 /Z07 cars as supposedly "track certified" but now, he is proudly associated with the first car HALFER: half of interior for the price of full interior.

If this newest scam is a result of Corvette buyers preferences, then assuming their IQ is in single digit numbers may be overly optimistic.
