2015 Nissan GTR Nismo brutally rapes 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 on the drag strip and track, reaffirming already known problems

+Tadge Juechter must be having a truly shitty day-and he certainly earned every minute of it!!!

Considering the $1000 price increase on all C7 Corvettes just announced today, the revealing comparison set up by Motor Trend magazine could not come at the better time, LMAO.

All this hard work Juechter and Jim Mero did on Milford and VIR tracks just went out of the proverbial window, with a substantial amount of smoke team Corvette continues to blow.

So what happened here?  The heavy Nissan GTR Nismo managed not  to just obliterate the newest flagship at the dragstrip and in 0-60 runs but to formalize the demise of the Z06, raped it on the Willow Springs track, not just by a fraction of a second but by entire TWO SECONDS and 280 feet lead.  This is not just a minor set back, this is a complete obliteration of the newest flagship, the car Juechter continues to peddle as the "most track capable Corvette ever".

Good ole Randy Pobst managed to get only ONE LAP before overheating and supercharger related timing pull took place, rendering the Z06 completely incapable of continuing its track adventures.

Some very interesting facts were observed as well, nothing that comes as a surprise but certainly worth of mentioning again and again: the shitty aerodynamics of the car literally make the Z06 worthless on a track, regardless of its ground effects level since the car becomes right down dangerous when the shitty level 3 ground effects are removed, due to severe oversteer the Z06 exhibited with downforce removed up front and in the rear, making the car prone to spinning its tail, ultimately causing loss of control and whatever may come with it.

The same shitty aerodynamics were directly responsible for terrible exit speeds and absolute lack of acceleration on straights, something that did not cause any issues for the considerably heavier but also considerably more aerodynamic GTR Nismo.

As already pointed out in this blog before, there is no way in hell the newest flagship is capable of (assuming it can actually finish even one lap) recording a good run on Nurburgring track.  No matter how much kool aid Juechter may be serving to the brain dead Z06 buyers and enthusiasts, the jig is up and there is nothing at all anyone in GM can do about it.  The car is still a great purchase-for those who like to practice their paint correction skills, enjoy spending time at their local dealership, love mingling with the tow truck drivers and are not in a hurry to make it to the next Cars and Coffee gathering.

Even though Randy Pobst was very diplomatic here, stating that while Z06 is more  fun to drive (spinning the tail can be lots of fun), he would use the GTR Nismo to set record lap times on a track.  Indirectly, this is a very firm assurance no Nurburgring lap time will be happening ever during this generation of Corvette.

Once again, raising the price on this verified POS flagship is as funny as the automotive comedy can get.  Yes, paying another thousand for a car that cannot do anything as advertised is super funny.  Is it time for Juechter to start whining Randy Pobst cannot drive?  LOL

  1. i really dont like randy too much.he is pro chevy, and when ever he does a mustang vs SCRAPMARO test he always see to it that the mustang is made to look like garbage.i hope another driver test the new GT350,and that way we can really see what it can do.im sure it will outlast that JUNKMOBILE called a vette.

    1. When a Chevy biased driver comes up with crappy results, then this is even more embarrassing for GM.

  2. Go Go Godzilla, the lizard king still rules. If it was not for the modern data gathering equipment we have today, the Vette would of won. They all would of got together and voted on the C7. I noticed they mentioned the heat soak and that the vette handling tries to kill you, they call it fun. It is fun when you are a professional driver on a closed track. It is not fun when you accidently go around a corner to fast or try to avoid something on the road and the back end decides to lead. The corvette does not recover well after it loose it, it never will until the leaf springs are finally ditched.

I like how they call the GTR Godzilla the old car here, when it has all the modern tech as compared to the Vette that is the old one here. Leaf springs, push-rod motor, old fiberglass tech, rear wheel driver only (GM this is getting embarrassing)

Going to have to find my Blue Oyster Cult CD.

    1. Yup, this is some serious ass whooping here but no surprise at all. Should be interesting to see what the new Ford Focus RS can do on the track, I bet it will come pretty close to the Z06, LOL.

One Z06 fatality is already here, hopefully others will wise up and stop believe the marketing bullshit before meeting their maker.

  3. It looks like the German's can add down force and not increase the drag.

How can GM with all that tax payer money not be able to match the Germans. Love a Porsche, they are timeless.

    1. Not just Germans, Japanese know how to do it too and Ford as well... All you have to do is care about this aspect and spend money developing it. None of this applies to GM as usual.
