The newest Tremek manual transmission, TR-6070 is a real turd, it is a fact and nothing is going to change it, due to the idiotic third overdrive gear, the shifter pattern is horrible and just counterintuitive and finding the right gear can be quite a challenge. Of course, as with previous Tremek transmissions, the second gear can grind and speed shifting can be a pipe dream.
However, in its Z06 application, this transmission causes actual functionality problems that can and do lead to a total transmission failure, just like this one. Unfortunately, the problem continues to spread and more and more owners report the transmission voluntarily popping out of the gear, creating a potential safety issue.
Since the problem appears to be related to Z06 car, it is very likely that the transmission itself may not be at fault popping out of gear, most likely it may be the linkage and Z06 specific mounting issues (at least, +General Motors should hope this is the case. )
Considering the flagship status of the Z06 and speed +Tadge Juechter managed to arrange to have the first LT4 blown motor replaced, within FIVE DAYS, one would expect the same treatment for the unlucky schmuck who blew his transmission. One would also expect that GM would be collecting the transmission and analyzing the failure to prevent further episodes. So is this the case? No effing way, the flagship with the first broken down transmission is still sitting at the dealership, close to THREE WEEKS and with not a single attempt from GM to rectify the issue.
In the meantime, more transmissions experience the gears popping out, again, creating a SAFETY HAZARD and other owners are being forced to leave their cars at the dealerships, with no possibility for a repair. Absolutely nobody knows what is going on and Tadge on the white horse is not coming to the rescue.
How much longer will this continue? Apparently until the owner can meet his or hers state Lemon Law conditions and take legal actions to end the nightmare. Truly shameful behavior but certainly not a surprise. After all, there are no rules without exceptions and the five day engine replacement is as blatant of an exception as it could get. The rule: buy the car and pray nothing happens because GM certainly will not be there to go out its way to take care of problem before all broken down Sonics and Cruzes are fixed and before the still ongoing ignition switch scandal continues.
