And the more important question is why is +General Motors advising its dealers not to move or drive the newest flagship in winter weather while doing exactly same thing itself? Certainly, these cars not only get stuck for weeks at the time in Bowling Green plant back lot but then get stuck in places like Toledo, OH, due to problems with impacts of winter on railroad functionality.
In the process, these cars sit for weeks in the cold and get moved several times in the weather GM claims is completely unsuitable for driving these cars at all. The whole idiocy of the summer only tires shines right through, the flagships are moved to load them up to the railroad loading point, then unloaded and loaded again, moved several more times using haulers and finally, delivered to the buyers with tires completely shut.
Very stupid to advertise cars as the ultimate performance vehicles and then deliver them with tires at best with no traction in colder weather or more likely, severely damaged and unsafe to drive in any weather due to severe cracking.
Here is a thought for +Tadge Juechter to prevent more fatalities going under his credit: start offering ALL SEASON tires for winter production and delivery to prevent more accidents and one way trips to the morgue for the buyers who apparently are too dumb to understand the implications of the summer tire implications in winter temperatures. Yes, the performance figures cannot be achieved on all season tires but at least a few lives may be saved this way, even though this may cut into sales figures. And here is another idea: while equipping Corvette with all season tires, offer option to the buyers to acquire the summer only tires at heavy discount, to be used in warm weather only.
Maybe it is a time to have a talk with Michelin and force Michelin to come up with the suitable size of all season tires to fit Stingray and Z06? As it is, the OEM size is not available in all season and this leaves the dumb buyers in a pretty tight spot.
The other options: DO NOT PRODUCE AND SELL THE CAR IN WINTENR. Certainly, in spite of the bogus warnings to the dealers, the most of the damage to the tires takes place long before these turds are even delivered to the dealers or the buyers. Addressing this issue should be cheaper than another ignition switch adventure...
