First, there was a 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 supposedly reaching 199 mph on a public road and now, there is a few +General Motors flagships dipping into 10's on the dragstrip and actually breaking 130mph in the quarter mile run. What is going on here?
Never mind the numbnut who claimed that 199 mph in 8 speed auto while running downhill and showng g force on the PDR while registering zero steering angle, LOL... The hero quarter mile runs are considerably more interesting. What makes these runs even more interesting is the alleged STOCK, unmodified cars making these runs.... The catch to these stock cars is that the "only" change from real stock is supposedly use of drag radials in lieu of street tires.
Here is the strange thing, while the cars using the road tires, in both manual and automatic versions stopped improving their results at the strip, with 10.7s being the limit, the cars using drag radials continue to improve... How does this work? Is it all about extra traction? Why cannot press tested cars continue to improve?
The answer is not all that complicated when considering the use of various effective diameters of those drag radials that without any doubt can help both the manual and automatic versions of the overweight POS Z06 compensate for pick up truck worthy fifth and up manual and sixth and up slush box gearing and those uhm LOL rear end final drive ratios... Does it take a lot? Not at all, even a half inch overall diameter change (typically smaller than stock diameter) can make all the difference to lower the shifting points that in stock configuration make the heavy turd literally run out of steam and ability to accelerate. It is not a cincidence that the quarter mile trap speed for Z06 as quoted by +Tadge Juechter is between 125 to 128 mph, this is where the fucking gear speed maxxes sout!!!
Now, the asshole that gets the proverbial cake is the one who managed to hit 10.4 time in the slush box porker.... Tools like this one do not even realize the disservice they do to the newest flagship and those supercar delusions Juechter keeps spouting off. To get this result, use of drag radials and screwing with effective diameters did not suffice, this numbnut had to resort to running SKINNIES!!! This part alone makes the flagship even more of a joke. It is not difficult to figure out why the skinnies help here: high pressure small contact patch, smaller rolling mass and both rolling and drag resistance are needed to make the fat pig move in a decent manner at the drag strip. The problem here: this is not the same ALLEGED king of the track, no more braking and handling advantage, straight line on a well prepared track and cold weather is what it takes-EPICALLY PATHETIC!!!
So what is left for the Z06? Competition with Hellcats and Mustangs and Civics at the strip is what is left. Hmmm.... no more Nurburgring pipe dream? Not on those skinnies, LMAO!!!
