Before the latest generation of Corvette, C7 saw the daylight, +General Motors announced an alleged expansion and modernization of the Bowling Green Corvette assembly plant, committing almost $140 million to that publicity stunt. The amount was small by any standards but apparently necessary to spend to promote the illusion of a "revolutionary" "new" end to all Corvettes design (at least according to the bullshit artist in charge, +Tadge Juechter ).
Unfortunately, the real life failed to cooperate with the marketing bullshit and in spite of the marketing claims, the paint on the newest cars, along with fit and finish of the body, along with a variety of mechanical and electrical problems plus an eye opening number of engine and transmission failures rendered the newest Corvette a certifiable piece of shit and overall failure. To further compound this fiasco, the newest Corvette C7 Z06 failed to live to more marketing bullshit, demonstrating very well that douchebags like Juechter have considerably less credibility than even the sleaziest of the used car salesmen. Incidentally, seeing this continuous disaster, one cannot help but wonder, where the fuck did the money go? The money certainly did not go into paint application improvements nor did it go in the better tooling or training of the truly incompetent UAW heroes who continue to fuck up the newest Corvettes at will, giving buyers a true headache. Perhaps, the money went directly to the modernization of the break rooms and extra doughnuts for the lazy assembly line crew, along with their retirements and other truly undeserved benefits? Seems like this is exactly what happened...
Now, all of the sudden, there is more bullshit and it is truly of a mind blowing variety.
According to GM, there will be another injection of cash to the BG plant and UAW union bosses and not pennies but a whopping $439 million to supposedly upgrade (AGAIN) the paint facility and expand the plant by another 50 percent.
According to GM, the new paint facility will allow for higher quality paint application while making the facility more environmentally friendly, catering specifically to "premium" tint colors.and most of all, create another 150 union jobs.
The real question here is: has anyone in GM bothered to read this bullshit and do a little reality check before issuing this statement? As stated on this blog long time ago, the problem with the shitty paint lies mainly in problems with the new super low density SMC that when combined with thin coats of paint and clear create a true disaster that cannot be correct due to environmental objectives that dictate as little paint and clear coat applied period.
And why exactly bother to spend this money when there is apparently nothing wrong with the paint quality anyway, at least according to GM. The super stupid part is that there is supposedly $439 million SEQUEL to the original $140 million "investment". Again, who are these bullshit artists kidding and IF INDEED this is the truth and by some miracle, the paint quality improves, what will happen to all the schmucks who were stupid enough to buy these piece of shit Corvettes that make a roller paint job an unotainable standard for the newest Corvette. Will all of these earlier cars be repainted to give the owners at least some peace of mind? NO FUCKING WAY THIS IS THE CASE!!!!
So what is that new paint facility for and is it really a paint shop? As usual, Occam's Razor applies and if there is a facility expansion, there may be an addition to the current sorry Corvette line up, maybe a ZR1 or maybe that mid engine Zora? As it is right now, the current flagship is a true fuck up, good for a dyno or strip hero run and not much more. Without any doubt, idiots like Juechter will try their hardest to botch any other car as well. In the meantime, either Mary Barra is so completely stupid or the corporate pipe dream is to have the Corvette buying numbnuts retain their gullibility if this expansion objective is factual.
The most ironic part here is the fact that GM is unwilling to remedy serious mechanical problems like overheating while supposedly investing millions in a paint shop. Try harder Tadge.
