In this case, an old guy and his pooch died due to something quite common on the newest generation of Corvette, a loose electrical connection (battery cable in this instance). Since due to great wisdom of GM, when power dies in the car, the door locks remain locked, there is no way for anyone to open the door manually (this is a door popper mechanism, not a power assisted latch with a handle).
When combined with extreme heat and lack of familiarity with the car and its well hidden emergency door lock release, these cars can easily become true death traps, just like in this case.
The frustrating and scary part here is the fact that absolutely nothing has changed with the regard to the door locks between the previous and current generations of Corvette, in spite of the bullshit +Tadge Juechter keeps spouting off, bragging about the giant technological leap the seventh generation of Corvette supposedly took.
Well, guess what Tadge, you better make fucking sure this shit does not happen to your own father who apparently was either dumb enough or forced to buy the newest General Motors piece of shit called Corvette C7 Stingray. Karma is a bitch and neither the old guy or his pooch deserved to die for such a stupid reason and in such a pointless manner. Instead of spending your time on bullshit, how about you get your shit together and figure out how to supply the Corvette driver with an easy emergency exit WITHOUT MEMORIZING THE FUCKING MANUAL?
Again, old geezers are the buying majority, they lack the ability to memorize the owner's manual (or comprehend it), keep it in mind while chasing the Nurburgring and LeMans bullshit Tadge.

It is a death trap, not just because you can't open the doors. Where is the IHS or NHTSA crash test results? This car also has the problem with the electric power steering system that has caused many a GM to wreck. Can you imagine driving along and out of nowhere the steering wheel gets to hard to turn, and with those wide tires I bet the Vette is not going to be easy for the Old farts that buy these cars to control it.
ReplyDeleteDue to inadequate air circulation, for Z06, with those wide tires and obscene weight, overheating electric steering seems to be the rule, at least on the track.
