The real purpose for Callaway SC757 Corvette C7 Z06-no track use for the extra horsepower?

Reese Callaway has a long history of basking himself (and his tupee) in the claims of "performance enhancement" for mainstream +General Motors "performance cars and SUVs".  Like with Steve Saleen, as long as there are suckers willing to pay, Reese will sell.  What is Callaway selling exactly?  Mainly overpriced bullshit and self gratifying emblems and floormats, with some extra peformance and horsepower figures.  Oh and yes, that hole in the hood to fit one size fits all supercharger, without investing in the actual supercharger development or hood design.

So what else is Reese selling with his 20k package (it is not really 17k as Reese claims since he gets to keep the OEM blower as a part of the upgrade)?  Well, he sells the illusion of better track performance and retention of the factory warranty.

That better track performance is not directly spelled out by Callaway, it is IMPLIED through some creative brainwashing that suggests that the larger supercharger and the hole in the hood will remedy the overheating and heatsoak problems plaguing the stock C7 Z06 to such an extent that those track capabilities advertised by +Tadge Juechter during the introduction of the newest flagship become a funny kind of marketing bullshit, at the expense of suckers buying this piece of shit.

As already pointed out in this blog, this claim is nothing short of bullshit and the joke is on the Corvette sheep willing to accept it.

But... there is another aspect to it, that so called FACTORY WARRANTY that Reese Callaway always displays so proudly.  This is the part where Reese Callaway meets his Ford bullshit spin doctor brother, Steve Saleen (no longer associated with Saleen Performance).  Like with Saleen, the Callaway version of Stingray and now Z06 are sold through participating GM dealers and can be ordered through GM catalog.  Now, if this is the case, the logical consequence would be to ASSUME that the GENERAL MOTORS warranty is fully applicable to the Callaway "upgrade" but it really is not...

In fact, besides the suspension, brakes, body and electrical, there is nothing else that is being covered by GM.  What happens instead is that the parts like drivetrain are covered by Callaway instead of GM.  A simple mind would shrug this off, pointing out that there would not be any difference since Callaway warranty is still applied through those GM dealers but... there is a big difference here and certainly nothing that could reduce Callaway profits and tupee subsidy.

First of all, Callaway warranty is 36 months/36000 miles instead of GM's 60 months/60k miles (formerly 100k miles, in 2015).  AS AN OPTION, Callaway customer may choose extra warranty coverage equaling the GM terms.

Then there is another issue, the track use.  While GM warranty specifically allows track use (with track preparation procedures required), Callaway EXCLUDES track use, leaving the customer on their own and liable for any possible motor, supercharger or transmission replacement, should a failure occur during such track use.   How about a quick quarter mile run?  Events like drag strip run are handled ON CASE BY CASE basis, allowing Callaway to opt out from covering any damages as well.

And finally, there is another aspect: Callaway replacing GM for the purpose of handling any warranty claims.  Good or bad?  Considering the shitty customer service provided by GM, this may not be a bad thing, assuming Callaway plays along with the customer and cooperates, especially when upgrades beyond Callaway package are found on the car.

So with all of this, what is exactly the purpose for the newest Callaway UPGRAYEDD?  No, it is not potential Nurburgring record breaker, not even a domestic track winner.  So what the fuck is this car for?  Two things: street roll racing and cars and coffee.   Actually, cars and coffee is the main objective considering the commemorative plaques and Callaway specific floor mats...  Hmmm...

  1. Who in their right mind adds more power to a car that is already putting out 650hp/650tq so they can take it to cars and coffee? Fucking idiots, that's who.

    1. Yeah, I am not sure what the point of this upgrade is, either. Seems like strictly cars and coffee and drag strip. Not even engine oil cooler modification for so much money is pretty puzzling but explains why you still cannot track this car after Callaway is done with it.
