General Motors dealers trying to cash in on shitty paint quality of Corvette C7 Stingray and C7 Z06

The old saying about giving someone lemons only to see them crank out some tasty lemonade certainly holds up with +General Motors dealers, "privileged" with selling the newest generation of Corvette.

In this case, at least one GM dealer not only seems undeterred by the shitty paint quality attached to the newest Corvettes but proceeds to make a handy profit due to the inferior paint.

How does this work?  Very simple actually, the dealer picks a freshly delivered car (dealer inventory) and proceeds to remedy the crappy paint by applying a flashy coat of custom paint over it.  The pricetag is ten grand which by custom paint standards is not really all that much but... this is a GM dealer, already failing to perform simplest repairs on the newest Corvettes.  Is the dealer paint service better?  Has the car been prepared well, with the body panels removed from the car?  Has the glass been removed prior to painting?  How about the paint quality itself?  All of these are big unknowns and what may seem like a relative bargain, may not be a bargain at all.  The fact that the factory invoice will indicate a different color does not help, either.

However, it is still interesting to see how some people can manage such a positive outlook on seemingly shitty situation and make a profit at the same time.  After all, if the paint was better, there would not be a need to hide it...
