No matter how +General Motors slices it and no matter how much song and dance comes out of the clown named +Tadge Juechter, the newest generation of Corvette looks very dated, in fact, outright archaic, due to certain styling cues that were cool in the 70's and 80's but are completely out of place in the 21st Century on a car that supposedly is modern.
Those styling cues? The shitload of plastic junk aka trim pieces stuck on the newest Corvette porker that would make Tupperware ladies proud. Yes, this junk looks cheap and out of place on a modern car.
Among this dated junk, there is one thing (or two things) that make the newest Corvette right down old: the tail light bezels. Does anyone still use tail light bezels? For what exactly? They were absent from Corvette for very long time, since C2 generation as a matter of fact and even then, they were pretty subdued. So why go back to the cheesy dated styling and slap those tail light bezels on the supposedly "modern" car? Maybe Corvette designers hang out with Mustang guys too much or maybe they secretly drive Mustangs? Or maybe Camaro enthusiasts?
The old age shows even more so with the clear Z06 tail lights, there is not only an external bezel/surround but one that is painted silver? on the inside of the outer bezel, doubling up the cheese, way beyond the Big Mac cheese saturation.
In the old days, tail light bezels performed a function: they hid fitment issues but aren't these days over? Seeing how everything else fits worth shit on the newest Corvette, maybe not...
Now, if the OEM is already bad, apparently the aftermarket can make it so much worse... The funny thing is that no matter what those bezels/surrounds are made of, they still look like shit, making this abomination just as dated as the OEM jewels.
That ass has been beat with an ugly stick................and liked it. Put that thing away will ya?
