Ford accepts orders for 2017 Ford GT and the best General Motors can do for the buyers of 2016 Corvette C7 Z06 is to tell them to keep the RPMs low...

When +General Motors announced the upcoming seventh generation's of Corvette flagship, C7 Z06, the car was heralded not just as a highest performance Corvette but as none other than a SUPERCAR!!!

In fact, the deception created by Corvette's so called chief engineer was so elaborate that included not just the usual "the best Corvette ever" bullshit but some heavy claims like the most track capable and Nurburgring conqueror delusions.

Well, it did not take long before the proverbial shit hit the fan and the chunks of the marketing bullshit continue to land until this very day, without any possibility for improvement anytime soon.

Not only has the guady and unfinished looking flagship failed to deliver that ubiquous supercar performance but just like its Stingray stablemate, the newest flagship turned into one of the biggest pieces of shit GM ever produced, along with a huge PR fiasco that continues until now, with another car magazine reviewer managing either to overheat or grenade the engine in the  flagship on quite regular basis.

So is the new Z06 a supercar?  No, it is not and in fact, it is less of a supercar than its predecessor, C6 Z06.  As a matter of fact, as long as GM keeps pumping up the (unsustainable) the horsepower while failing to address both mechanical and visual aspects of such transformation, the product will be actually lesser than the sum of all of its components, as perfectly illustrated by this latest Z06 flagship.

Ironically enough, the previous ZR1 was criticized by failing to make a visually distinct presence to follow its mechanical upgrades, it was pleasing to the eye than this latest abomination.

Nevertheless, what does all of this have to do with the supercar and specifically, the already ready to order new Ford GT?

The answer is pretty simple actually, unlike GM, Ford actually managed to create an actual supercar, with carbon fiber tub, pushrod suspension, carbon fiber body and pumped up Ecoboost V6 twin turbo engine.

Yes, the car costs shitload of money and in reality is a corporate kit car but it is a real supercar, unlike the Z06.  What really sets the new GT  apart from anything GM and what makes it a supercar is the thought that went into designing it, with the FORM FOLLOWING FUNCTION taken to another dimension.

Here is a rather interesting example of the extent of Ford's supercar creation effort versus the absolute lack of effort on the part of GM's own, +Tadge Juechter and the rest of the Corvette team clowns.

First of all, the front air intake, it is huge on the upcoming Ford GT, and courtesy of the mid engine layout, the air is not only going in to cool the radiator and oil cooler but it is also exiting in a proper manner, not only extracting the air but relieving the pressure as well.

How about the GM flagship?  This piece of shit has no real air intake to speak of, it is more of a gap variety, with the hood vents failing as both heat extractors and pressure relief as well.  One may safely say the messy form fails to follow the function altogether here.

The GT's rear spoiler is full of tricks, including an air-brake function. The wing can both rise vertically and tilt, its horizontal surface angling upward to capture extra downforce and drag when needed.

How about the  Corvette C7 Z06?  Oh yeah, the owner can get some tools and unscrew the "wickerbill"  from the rest of the barn door in the rear of the "flagship".

Riding on a what Ford calls an "active" suspension, the GT can lower itself at speed for stability and better aerodynamics, effectively decrease the frontal area.

In true supercar form, a button in the cabin can lift the front end when faced with inconsiderately designed driveway ramps and speed humps.

How about the GM flagship piece of shit?  Courtesy of the horse buggy suspension, the lucky owner can adjust the shuckle bolts, from the ground, not the cockpit and then count the lucky stars while negotiating a driveway.

Here is a truly outstanding example of very innovative engineering, the rear buttress structures.  Not only do they house the air to air intercoolers but at the same time, they perform function of aero WINGS.  Yes, this is very clever and very creative.

Of course, the piece of shit Z06 designers and engineers would be shitting in their pants should someone propose an actual solution that could look good while functioning at the same time as well.  Thus, what the flagship has is is really NOTHING, with regards to keeping air flow going under the hood.

Finally, the real show piece: the rear end design.  To an untrained eye, those cool looking LED Ford GT tail lights are just tail lights... In reality, they are not just tail lights, they are also outlets for the intercoolers.  Furthermore, they match the exhaust tips perfectly, creating a very unique and organic look to the rear of the Ford car.

Of course, none of this can be said about the piece of shit Z06 that still looks as incoherent, non functional and visually repulsive as it did a year ago.  Like with the base Stingray, nothing flows,  the clear tail lights and the cheesy vented garnish do not match anything, while looking like a total piece of garbage.

Is there a point in comparing the pathetic GM effort to the upcoming Ford GT?  Why of course, there is... Considering that the newest flagship is supposed to be such a bargain, making cars costing much more APPEAR overpriced, there is certainly a good reason to expose the bullshit engineering and design that the GM junk really is.  Is the Ford GT worth the 250k premium over the Z06? For someone who has the money to pay for one, it will be certainly not wasted, like it would be with the latest GM "flagship".

Cars like the Ford GT are great at what they do: exposing the GM bullshit and lack of drive to come up with anything meaningful.

  1. Very well written, the Ford GT is so far ahead of Garbage Motors.gm sucks.

  2. To be fair, the Ford GT is starting at $400,000.
I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. Not defending the corvette, just saying it's more apples to oranges in this case. (or lemons)
Plus, the Ford could end up being a turd. Never say never........

    1. Well no, it is not about the price tag, it is about the attitude of the designers. If Juechter runs around claiming the Ferrari like flavor, he should really put substance behind it. There is no pricetag on innovation and originality. Corvette designers and engineers are lazy, basically recycling the same stuff over and over and making it worse. Kinda like with the viper, except that the new one at least is not any worse than the previous one.
