Exactly as this blog predicted, the latest UPGRAYEDD aimed at resolving the high coolant and oil operating temperatures and uncanny tendency of the newest Corvette flagship, C7 Z06 to overheat after even a few minutes of spirited driving consists of of installing this idiotic invention in the location typically occupied by the auxiliary automatic transmission, up front and HORIZONTALLY, after hacking out (calloway style) a big hole in the front bumper undertray...
Also, as already stated, not only does this idiotic idea accomplish absolutely nothing for cooling while screwing up the already shitty aerodynamics and weight distribution of the flagship but at the same time, resolves any doubts about the newest flagships equipped with the geriatric special, auto slush box as even remotely track worthy jalopies. Obviously, the owners of the auto equipped flagships would have a choice to either overheat the engine or the transmission (assuming this half ass idiocy would work in the first place which of course it does not) while pursuing the racing dreams.
Of course, as another GMPP "performance part" this extra radiator/heat exchanger may not work as advertised but will affect handling and aerodynamics, along with throwing the manufacturer's warranty out of the window for "certified supercar" while generating handsome $895 profit for participating dealerships (this is incidentally the cost of the latest LG Motorsports main radiator UPGRAYEDD that accomplishes about the same thing-absolute jackshit.)
To top off this idiocy, apparently the other part of the cooling system UPGRAYEDD consists of 600-watt fan which must mean that instead of running a cool off lap to at least attempt to cool off the LT4 turd, the happy owner may as well just pull over (sounds like a great idea due to not having ability to run air conditioning during those track attempts). How about an extra fan for the owner, for the interior to keep the numbnut at least semi functional in the ambient heat?
Overall, none of this is suprising a bit and great source of entertainment for this blog. God forbid someone at GM or in the aftermarket would finally figure out to identify the cause before attempting to cure the effects? No worries, chances for this to happen are exactly the same as for the new flagship (or any C7 turd) to record an impressive Nurburgring lap.
The optional cooler has a great view of the ground (Yipee) however mounting a cooler like that poses no air flow advantage because air needs to pass through the fins, not in front of them. The 600cfm fan would have to work its ass off. The front splitter and ground effects alone direct the airflow away from the cars underbody to create downforce. Why not remove the stupid plexi junk rear spoiler and put the extra radiator there, then airflow to the extra cooler would be effective and the car might get a little better weight distribution.
