Is the best General Motors can do to improve Corvette C7 Stingray and C7 Z06 for 2017 is change exterior colors?

Considering the variety of mechanical and fit and finish problems the newest generation of Corvette presents to the naive buying public, it would be logical that somewhere through the mid cycle of the production run, AT THE LATEST, the diligent Corvette engineering team would be presenting a series of major upgrades and improvement to finally deliver to the buyers what +General Motors marketers have been claiming since day 1.

Such changes would include major improvements to the drivetrain, PCV system, cooling systems and of course, fit and finish of the newest Corvettes that so far, makes Autozone parking lot "customizers" look like the ultimate standard for the hard working UAW crew of Bowling Green assembly line heroes.

Apparently, this is not the case at all and in spite of the problems plaguing the latest Corvettes, the only change (it is not possible to call it even an UPGRAYEDD) has been limited to a change in exterior color changes.

Obviously and hopefully, there is a reason to anything that happens, and even though, that reason is not always clear, in this case, there is very little doubt to what takes place.

Can color changes prevent engines from blowing up or everheating?  NO
Can color changes improve quality of ill fitting and poorly finished body panels?  NO
Can color changes improve flawed aerodynamic of the latest Corvettes?  NO

Since any of the issues identified above require an actual engineering effort and financial investment, the changes in color choices seem like an obvious choice made by GM.  Deny and ignore have been the favored words in Juechter's vocabulary forever, clearly, nobody at GM has any intention at all to abandon this cost saving strategy.  Even though this approach backfired big time with the infamous ignition switch scandal, Corvette owners just flat out do not drive their pieces of shit enough to deal with the GM strategy.

Of course, for those few who defy the rule of the typical Corvette owner, the experience can be right down dreadful and inspiring them to sell their problematic cars at loss and in a hurry, but for the majority of the silver or bold headed overweight buyers, the problems will be surfacing selectively, making both the problems and GM's customer service issues rare exceptions to the self propagating rule of apathy.

No surprise then that here is the only announcement regarding changes to the 2017 Corvette C7: cancelling four colors from the latest Corvette line up.

The colors that apparently will not be available later in April of 2016 are:

Shark Gray Metallic
Laguna Blue Tintcoat
Daytona Sunrise Orange
Night Race Blue Metallic

What do these colors have in common?  They are all metallics but this is where logic ends... One, Laguna Blue is a premium color while the other three are no charge color selections.

Like with any other GM product, metallic paints are popular with the geriatric crowd.  In fact, out of ten colors offered for Corvette, six are metallics.

Typically, GM changes two colors at the time, four colors being changed in Corvette line up in the middle of production cycle is unheard of UNLESS, as mentioned above, GM has no intention to make any changes to the current cars.

Ironically enough, the color GM continues to botch with every car produced, BLADE SILVER METALLIC continues to march on, ready to make more ignorant buyers miserable throughout the ownership of their precious acquisitions.

This blog congratulates GM and Juechter for their outstanding consistency in denying and ignoring the Corvette C7 problems.  Consistency is important, although it gains value only when combined with good business ethics.
