Gotta hand it to +General Motors and +Tadge Juechter , they are being truly relentless in their drive to keep pushing the piles of plastic off the dealers lots and creating baits of sort, in form of gimmicks that apparently motivate the buyers to finally pull the trigger.
Although there are no fixes offered to the current owners of the latest generation of this piles of shit (anyone with even a trace of brains would realize very quickly that so called cooling and supercharger upgrades are anything but improvements and remedies) and there is no extra horsepower or alternatively, weight savings or aerodynamic improvements, someone in General Motors apparently figured that scavenging through the Walmart in Bowling Green and specifically its spray paint section may finally provide that needed break trough, unloading the lots before these piles rot away completely.
So what is that bait offered to the potential buyers? Is it at least a significant interior change over, getting rid off the hefty and wobbly so called sport seats? Is it a remake of the interior layout, relieving it of its C4 "inspiration"? Or perhaps, employment of materials that do not look like Pep Boys meet JC Whitney sales isle?
Nah, none of this took place. However, there is something new in the interior, COLOR KEYED rev match paddles. The ironic part is of course that GM "stylists" chose to change something that should not be in those plastic fantastics in the first place, those truly fugly rev match paddles which in other cars are included in a form of either a hard or soft switch or not at all, pursuing the software implementation option. Since this is GM and the name of the game is cost savings, buyers of the cars with manual transmission inherit those shitty looking blobs of plastic used for manual shifting mode in slush box cars.
Here is a funny part, owners of the slush box cars do not use these paddles already, simply because the delay in their action is even slower than with the A6 transmission. For all practical purposes, GM could easily revise the steering wheel plastic trim and rid of the paddles altogether but... this is supposedly a sports car, with a transmission that according to GM is faster and sportier than DCT, thus, the paddles are there, even though the transmission (assuming it actually works) can only upshift fast and only in automatic mode.
Nevertheless, in this age of carbon fiber and titanium, GM decided that spraying these paddle turds with some color will keep the dumb buyers happy, enticing them to spend the money.
Of course, a can of spray paint is much cheaper than creating separate molds for MT cars steering wheels and it is cheaper than milling these turds smaller and in semi exotic metal or carbon fiber, thus, it is what it is and it looks like a complete ass.
Anyone thinking rationally would be trying to make these turds disappear by making them smaller and less visible but not GM... Gotta give these tools credit for being persistent in their tackiness or perhaps just matching the tastes of the tasteless and clueless buyers?
Those colored paddles look like something that needs to be removed before operation, like remove these so you can steer or start the car
