Corvette C6 humiliates Corvette C7 Stingray on the race track

This video should get Corvette C7 nut huggers panties in a bunch quite a bit.  Here is a 2010 Grand Sport Corvette C6 outrunning a Corvette C7 on a track by a full 2 seconds.  Yes, this is not a C6 Z06, just the base model with wider tires, headers, coil overs and wide body and it easily leaves the new Corvette in the dust, making its driver memorize the better looking tail lights, LOL.

There is no doubt that C7 nut huggers will be whining about supposedly unfair comparison since the C6 car is fully race prepared while the poor C7 is "basically stock," except for track tires.

So what is the truth?  Is this really an unfair comparison?  Not at all and as a matter of fact, this comparison is skewed in favor of C7.

Why?  Well, just for starters, anyone who knows anything about Corvettes would quickly realize that 2010 Grand Sport is really a base C6 car with wider body and tires and Z51 package plus dry sump.  is not a best year to choose for a track car when base Corvette is considered.  2010 is the first year of Corvette Grand Sport, a Z06 look alike with LS3 motor and widebody.  The car is heavy, without horsepower advantage of Z06.  In order to justify its existence beyond just the body panels, +General Motors eliminated the Z51 handling option from the base car, making it available only on Grand Sport.  This option, along with stickier and wider tires is the only reason why Grand Sport could claim somewhat better performance than the base car.  Otherwise, a Z51 equipped LS3 base car with stickier and wider tires would outrun the Grand Sport by far margin, mainly due to better aerodynamics and most importantly to WEIGHING LESS.

What did the C6 Z51 include?

extra cooling,
stiffer springs and stabilizer bars,
specific shock absorbers,
larger brakes with cross-drilled rotors,
Z51-specific 6-speed manual when ordered with 6-speed manual transmission
(GU2) performance axle ratio with 6-speed paddle shift automatic

Of course, the car of choice would be one with manual transmission that included a shorter first gear allowing for faster 0-60 runs.  Incidentally, 3.85 time, claimed by previous Grand Sport is readily possible when running wider and stickier tires, just like what Grand Sport used.

So in essence, a base LS3 Z51 car, using headers and set up on wider tires would be even faster than the car that was used in this comparison.  Mechanically, these two cars have many similarities, including adjustable shocks (Penske for Grand Sport), dry sump and horsepower output that is pretty much a wash.

The outcome does not come as a surprise, the previous generation, even with the heavier Grand Sport is still lighter, riding on wider tires, using comparable suspensions and brakes.  The problem with using Grand Sport is the extra drag that penalizes the car on the straights considerably more than it would the more aerodynamic base car.  If 2009 base was used, the difference most likely would double, mainly to the base weighing about 200 pounds less than C7.

Does +Tadge Juechter  know all of this?  Of course he does.  Will he admit the failure of the new Corvette in light of this very clear evidence?  NOT A CHANCE!!!

Seeing the BS this guy has been spewing since the introduction of the new Corvette, he will just ignore the unpleasant truth and continue with his delusional bragging about greatness of his failed attempt called Corvette C7 Stingray.

Hopefully, smarter car enthusiasts, those who do not drink GM kool aid will know otherwise.  Of course this excludes all nut huggers who already bought this new Corvette turd.

Oh and Tadge, if you ever want to do a comparison, I just happened to have a LS3 Z51 riding on 325's handy.  Wanna double the 2 seconds to 4?  Let me know if you happened to finally grow some balls.

  1. Can you use a word other than nut huggers? Sounds so unprofessional and makes me just want to stop reading. Your entire article seems skewed.
