Why the current Corvette C5 owners are the main portion of Corvette C7 Stingray buyers?

For anyone who is curious about the largest group of current Corvette owners moving on to Corvette C7 Stingray, the answer should not all that complicated:  the reasons are mainly financial.  Most of these buyers were paying off or still are paying off their Corvettes C5 while Corvette C6 were produced and sold.

This is the same reason why they are also the largest group of +General Motors  kool aid drinking nut huggers justifying their purchase of C7 based on their perception and not actual facts or reality behind the latest Corvette.  In other words, there has to a justification to purchase a new car, dissing on a car that was outside of their price range (and still is, regarding latest Z06, 427 and ZR1 versions) is an expected part of the strategy.

The other reason, and this one is actually a legitimate one and explains why C3 and C4 owners can be included in this group is the advancement in technology.  Yes, it is very obvious that performance advantages can be seen when new car is compared against much older generations.  These comparisons become uncomfortably marginal when C7 is compared against a closely matched C6 Corvette.

Nevertheless, it is very entertaining to watch this small but very vocal group of idiots insisting on not liking what they could not afford in the first place.
