What was the problem? During spirited driving, the PCV collected more than anticipated oil vapors and deposited them in the intake. The result was intake filled with oil, not the best scenario by any account. The problem was more apparent with oil overfill. The overfill was very likely with the engines using dry sump system, such as Z06, ZR1 and manual version of GS. Since those cars with dry sump was designated for spirited driving, they were also the cars showing this problem in the largest numbers.
Now, fast forward to LT1. As with previous generation, dry sump system is available with Z51 option and once again, there is a problem with the oil overfill on dry sump cars, in fact, even the factory cannot get this part right and mysteriously, the oil capacity specified has been REDUCED by half quart in the beginning of this year.
Now, since +Tadge Juechter was bragging a while ago about new PCV system that included PCV integrated in the rocker covers, one would think there would be no longer any issue with oil in the intake manifold. But... guess what, just like with other patented failures, here is one related to the same problem from the previous generation.
This is what happened when dry sump is overfilled. Uhm Tadge, does not seem like the new PCV system is working any better than the one that was on C6? Thanks for being full of shit and failing as usual. Back to the catch cans for the Z51 buyers, LOL.
