Why majority of Corvette C7 Stingray press reviews should not be treated seriously

More accurately, why they should be discarded before even attempting to read them...

Here is one

http://blog.sfgate.com/topdown/2014/02/09/2014-corvette-stingray-high-speed-flash-without-the-ultra-high-price/#20457101=0

What makes this one even funnier is the fact the writer claims to own a 2000 C5 as his personal car.

Right off the bat

"A curious note: I tested a C6 several years ago and it, too, was yellow. And there’s a yellow Corvette on the cover of Car and Driver’s March issue. Does General Motors think yellow Corvettes are more press friendly?)"

Uhm no... the majority of the previous generation press fleet Corvettes were black and red, this is a FACT.  Now, did the author get legitimate press cars in the past or were they the ZHZ Hertz rental Corvettes?  Seems this way, LOL.

Here is a real funny statement from the same review.

"The biggest news about the C7, aside from the fact that it is the first new Corvette in nine years (2005 marked the debut of the C6), is that the car is now on an aesthetic and performance par with its far pricier rivals."

Seriously, is this guy on crack?  What pricier rivals would these be?  The most distinctive characteristic of this new Corvette is the fact it is the most polarizing design ever, evoking the most negative reactions that should be associated with Pontiac Aztec and not Corvette.  And no, the performance figures are not there to support any legitimate claims of improvements, the car is considerably HEAVIER and less aerodynamic than the predecessors.  The only better performance figures were achieved by increasing the stall speed on automatics and stickier but shorter lived SUMMER tires as a standard equipment.  This writer should be forced to drive the new Corvette just for a few minutes in South Lake Tahoe to get a grasp on the problems related to SUMMER tires as the only standard equipment.

And here is some actual FALSE information

"but the fact remains that we now have a superbly tossable sports car that will do 195 miles an hour, will do zero to 60 in about four seconds, and costs tens of thousands of dollars less than its competitors."

Well, NO!!! The FACT is the new Corvette top speed is 185 mph due to lack of power and aerodynamics necessary to achieve this claimed top speed.  The only FACT is that the previous generation LS3 base car top speed is FIVE mph HIGHER than the newest Corvette.  And here is a thought for the writer, feel free to provide a photo evidence of being clocked at that claimed top speed since the laws of physics state otherwise.  The writer should get a clue from Hennessey 200 mph run that required extra 250 hp to break the 200 mph barrier because the new car is aerodynamically deficient.  And the 0-60 figures?  Only possible with automatic due to higher stall speed.  Given the same tires on LS3 Z51 base car which is lighter and only 24 hp shy of LT1, the performance of the new Corvette is actually inferior.  Now, if only the author did some research or was truly familiar with the subject he wrote about, LOL.

And here is more ignorance

"The interiors of older Corvettes do not hold a candle to the interiors of, say, Porsche or Jaguar or BMW or Ferrari.
Now they do. The seats are a lot better, the plasticky feel is gone, the instruments are easier to look at, the door panels don’t fall apart or start to crinkle and, so far, the seats don’t go into rocking-chair mode. (Aftermarket shops even make fix-it kits for the seat-rail problems.) The new car also gets keyless entry, a nine-speaker Bose audio system and a heads-up display."

Again, this guy must be smoking crack and be just as delusional as +Tadge Juechter .  Obviously the author has not seen the base 1LT car, the plastics are just as cheap as before, with the difference being the new dash design looks way too close for comfort as C4 interior, way too close.  Paying 8 grand for the "high quality" 3LT option does not solve much either, the leather is still low quality and cheap plastics are still there, another grand is required to cover them with cheap looking carbon fiber trim.  Oh and let us not forget about the display upgrade +General Motors had to come up with to at least partially resolve the display lack of twilight visibility.  To top it off, the 2010 through 2013 audio system layout is superior to the latest one but again, the author would have to posses a bit of car audio knowledge.

And here is more ignorance, this time regarding the exterior styling.

"On the outside, Chevrolet has taken what was a pretty conservative, European-inspired shape and made it more angular, even flashy, but it still says Corvette when you look at it. The rear of the hatchback coupe seems flatter and has much less glass, and so, perforce, there’s more restricted visibility from inside."

LOL at this BS.  The previous shape was based on AERODYNAMICS, it was inspired by the wind tunnel, not European? inspiration.  What has happened was Tadge Juechter and Tom Peters effing it up by pretending the new Corvette is now a global car.  The fangs hardly make it European, they just make it look stupid and exactly same goes for that abomination called rear end, not just the tail lights (and are the readers supposed to assume Camaro and its tail lights was "European inspired?").

And here is the dumbest statement EVER

"The C7 will outperform most average drivers."

Yup, this is exactly what happens with brains on drugs.  Get this straight buddy, most of the typical Corvette owners will be satisfied with the FOUR CYLINDER mode permanently engaged but this Corvette is as dumbified as it could possibly get.  The number of electronic nannies and "fuel saving measures" is staggering.  There is a hill assist nanny, there is a launch control nanny, there is a defective electronic differential, there is torque management, there is a skip shift and then there is four cylinder mode, along with bad weather assist mode.

SO NO, C7 will not outperform anyone, get a clue guy Juechter's 80 year old father just got one.  In fact, there is no way to turn this porker into a wild animal like the previous generations, this is one of its biggest problems.

And this stupidity just keeps going on and on and on.  Still waiting for a single objective and competent review but this may never happen.
