What advantages does Stingray have over the F type? It has more horsepower and less weight. Stingray is also relatively cheaper, depending on the trim levels of the Corvette and F Type cars being compared. In its most expensive trim level, Corvette is about 17k less than the V8 S version of F Type. The Stingray is faster than F type on the track, however, these differences disappear on the street rather quickly, just like they do with 911 or Cayman S.
So what does the new F type Coupe have in its favor? Without any doubt it has a considerably higher fit, finish and paint quality, along with the choice of much higher quality materials. What else? There is a more sophisticated and modern suspension, there is a considerably better exterior and interior design, better seats and finally PRESTIGE, something that plastic rich and garish Corvette will never have. The drivetrain in F type includes a much more sophisticated engine and considerably better ZF automatic transmission.
To top it off, new F Type Coupe is a very handsome design, full of beautiful details and simply gorgeous smoothly flowing shape, something that cannot be said about the latest Corvette at all, no matter how hard someone would try.
The final kicker? The F Type Coupe, unlike the roadster will be offered with MANUAL TRANSMISSION. If Tadge Juechter thinks that this car will not grab buyers from the Corvette, he should seriously have his head examined. The price advantage can go only so far, considering that paying 70k for a car full of cheap plastic pieces and truly horrible paint may not appeal to too many.
You better watch out Tadge!!!! Oh and Tom Peters, get a clue how the rear of an exotic looking sports car should look like-there is simply no comparison to the hideous slab of plastic on the Stingray.
