As Corvette C7 Stingray hydraulic serpentine belt failures grow, General Motors does absolutely nothing to correct the problem

The failure of the hydraulic serpentine belt tensioner is a fact and the number of cars affected by this problem continue to grow exponentially.

The problem is directly related to the effects of Active Fuel Management system causing severe vibrations in 4 cylinder mode, making the original weak design of the tensioner highly susceptible to failure and loss of hydraulic fluid.

What is even more disturbing is the fact that there are already documented instances of tensioners already replaced under warranty, FAILING AGAIN.

So what is exactly GM doing to correct this problem, with redesign of the weak part being a no brainer?  How about absolutely NOTHING!!!

Now, considering that it took +General Motors 13 years to finally admit a problem with ignition switch problems and initiate recall only after federal government required it, this another example of +Tadge Juechter and company denying a problem is not a surprise at all.

What will it take to take care of this problem?  As with the ignition switch, people will have to get hurt to have this issue corrected.  If nothing happens, C7 owners will be stuck with the problem after their warranty expires, just like C6 owners do with faulty harmonic balancers and leaky oil pans or Z06 disintegrating exhaust valves.

Great to see the more the shit changes, the more it stays the same.  One thing is for sure, the future second hand buyers of these cars will have to check for quite a few problems before spending their money.
