On the surface, this is a great testimony to Stingray's performance. To an untrained eye, a 65k plastic fantastic can edge cars costing twice as much and putting out more power... Hmmm... so how could this be? Is the Stingray really a great car or has someone actually rigged this comparison to create merely an illusion of new Corvette's superiority.
A wet track, and three cars: Aston Martin Vantage V12S, Jaguar F Type V8 supercharged and fruit of +Tadge Juechter 's engineering loins, Stingray.
Apparently Corvette wins in this test?
Let us look at some facts here:
Jaguar F Type,488 hp, weight distribution 52/48, curb weight 3870 lbs, transmission 8 speed AUTO
Aston Martin V12 S-565 hp, 53/47, curb weight 3950, transmission 7 speed AUTO
Corvette C7 Z51-460 hp, 50/50, curb weight 3450, transmission 7 speed MANUAL
Without any testing at all, which one should win this semi wet road course? Is there a point to conducting a test between two overweighed automatics and a lighter car equipped with manual transmission? Is there exactly a point to conducting such tests? The question to the creators of this truly brilliant video: any chance to race the Corvette against a Bentley GT and Rolls Royce? Both put out more power than new Corvette and should be a great match to a lighter car, equipped with an automatic transmission...
Here is another thought, Aston Martin has a Vantage V8 S WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION and weight and weight distribution matching the Stingray almost exactly, maybe this could be a more credible comparison?
It is uncertain if the idiot who came up with this idea is related to Juechter or employed by +General Motors , if he or she are so clueless all on their own, they certainly would qualify to join the team of idiots responsible for the newest Corvette and its marketing.
