With all the catastrophic LT1 engine failures that just about happen daily these days, one cannot help but wonder what really happened at the Nurburgring track last September?
As the official story goes, +Tadge Juechter claims that rain during Stingray testing prevented it from running a competitive lap at the ring. Is there a possibility that instead of rain, the same rain that did not stop Camaro Z28 from running a very impressive, at least for a steel porker, lap ON THE SPORT CUP TIRES (the last tire anyone should consider for a wet track), the Stingray tested at the ring just blew its motor and failed to complete the run?
Strangely enough, there is not a shred of evidence regarding the Nurburgring Stingray. What exactly happened to that car?
As usual, if Juechter had any integrity, there would be a real explanation of events that led to Stingray literally vanishing from the Ring, with absolutely no information made public to anyone. IF the Nurburgring Stingray LT1 blew up, that would not be a surprise, rather an expected outcome. Hopefully, the driver was not hurt?
Come on Tadge, try to man up and disclose what really happen. The way things go with the newest Corvette, blown engines appear to be a matter of WHEN and no longer of IF variety.
A few LT1 cadavers that have been dissected indicated problems with tolerances and interference issues, certainly not due to bogus oil filter shrapnel presence.
Now, the real question is what will happen with the defective LT1 engines? Will +General Motors do what it has done with LS7 defects and current torque tube and paint problems? To address those issues, GM did not a single thing, causing C6 Z06 values to plummet and 2014 starting to repeat the same fate.
Eventually, someone will get seriously hurt and then, just like with ignition recalls, a few sacrificial heads will roll why buyers suckered into buying turds will just wait around waiting for the parts that will never materialize.
