As usual, common knowledge and sense principals do not apply to +General Motors and Corvette "engineering" team led by +Tadge Juechter or so it seems on the surface, at least...
This old geezer managed to not just blow up the pinnacle of GM engine building technology, the by now INFAMOUS new LT1 motor but start a little fire under the hood as well.
Now, any car manufacturer that really strives to build cars as good as possible would certainly jump on the opportunity to get to the bottom of what happened since no car manufacturer wants to be associated with cars catching on fire. What has happened currently to Porsche and its GT3 car illustrates this part quite well. The cars that actually caught on fire were indeed collected by Adolf Hitler's descendants and analyzed for the fix that resulted in all GT3 cars getting engine replacements.
But... this was Porsche and this is GM... What would be a reason why GM neither honored the factory warranty, forgiving grandpa for temporary lack of judgment and dare to learn to drive his car on the track, albeit restraint by a professional instructor and mind boggling speed of 98 mph.
There is actually only one logical explanation why Juechter and his crew have absolutely no interest in getting down to the core issue with sudden engine death syndrome contracted by the Stingray: GM already knows there is a big problem and has no will and ability to correct it. IF GM bought the burned down Stingray cadaver, everyone would expect a follow up and in depth explanation as to what happen since the engine obliterated itself rather violently instead of being killed by the alleged defective oil filter.
More to it than meets the eye? Of course there is and there is no doubt that the polymer coated engine bearings may have a significant role in this current disaster. GM's refusal to buy this dead car is certainly a bigger red flag than the death of the car itself. What else are you hiding Tadge?
