The real life consequences of General Motors equipping Corvette C7 Stingray and Z06 with summer only tires

Somewhere between sales driven Corvette Stingray performance figures extraction and ignorance and life endangering stupidity of the new Corvette buyers lies the reality of the real danger the new car creates - for others, that is.

As pointed out long time ago here , the unavailability of all season tires on the newest Corvette while bragging about its performance potential is not just stupid but outright dangerous combination.  One could easily draw an analogy between selling the newest Corvette on summer only tires to buyers living in the snow belt portion of the country to offering fully automatic gun without a safety mechanism to mentally unstable people.

Hopefully the driver of this pick up truck recovers and learns not to park on the side of highway entrance ramp unless completely necessary but also, he will hold the totally irresponsible and ignorant driver of the Corvette AND General Motors for this truly scary accident.

Can General Motors prevent this from happening?  Of course it can, all it would take is putting the tire temperature sensors to good use and outright disabling the car below recommended optimum traction ambient temperatures or AT LEAST forcing the car into reduced power mode to prevent accidents like this from happening.

Of course, neither +Tadge Juechter  nor  +General Motors care enough about the danger this truly irresponsible marketing creates and as shown with the infamous ignition switch, it will take a few human lives to motivate the feds and GM to address this truly life endangering problem.

Now, what is really ironic that with all the electronic nannies and tuning restrictions on the newest generation of Corvette, one addressing the unsuitable tires is missing.  Why is that?  Marketing claims are more important than human lives?  Really too bad but not very surprising.

What is really doubtful is the driver of the Corvette learning from his own stupidity, not just about the tires but also responsibility toward others while on the road.  Cars rarely kill people, stupid people handle this part and the Stingray driver certainly qualifies.

  1. It is quite the stretch to blame the actions of an idiot driver on GM. Many cars come with summer tires and intelligent people will change them as the weather dictates or drive more carefully. I understand you do not like the C7 but you lose credibility when you stray from the facts.

    1. Considering how many nannies there are on these cars already and how much effort GM puts in electronically protecting drivetrain in both Stingray and Z06, it is not a stretch at all-just an interesting insight to the set of priorities GM has.

I'd be worried considerably more about GM credibility than mine but thanks for your opinion anyway
