United Auto Workers labor union, the organized crime force sheltering employees of Bowling Green Corvette plant, the same people directly responsible for truly shoddy assembly and non existent quality control so apparent on the latest generation of Corvette has been dealt a serious blow. The union shop set up requiring mandatory membership in UAW and more importantly, paying mandatory union dues is no longer in effect at the Corvette plant.
The so called right to work legislature has been passed by Warren County, on the county level and its impact is fully applicable to the UAW heroes at the Corvette plant.
What is this legislature about? This legislature allows non union members to be guaranteed employment, without any union representing them and of course, extorting money from them for this representation. Certainly, a serious blow to the labor unions, especially UAW, Teamsters and SEIU.
Now, UAW has been extorting money from employees in +General Motors for years, taking money literally for nothing while bringing GM and Chrysler and Ford to the brink of bankruptcy, mainly through its bait called benefits and retirements.
How bad is UAW at Bowling Green? The turmoil among the management in a very immediate past shows very well its crippling effect, in case the truly shitty quality of the cars produced there was not bad enough already.
And here is the financial aspect of the union financial racket: from about $3 million union collects annually from the plant employees, only about half million stays with the union local at the plant, the rest of the money is diverted to the UAW headquarters, never to be accounted for again.
And here is the bigger insult, only about TWELVE THOUSAND of this local budget is actually spent on union related activities at the plant, including negotiations with GM regarding working conditions.
In a nutshell, UAW steals all of the union dues forcefully collected from the Bowling Green employees. This is pretty serious money taken away from all employees.
Now, this union racket seems to be ending although there is no doubt that UAW will be putting up a serious fight by both, bullying and threating employees and sabotaging production line just like it has been done last year.
Considering how much union has to lose should this new legislature and non unionized employees stayed permanently, there is a very good chance that buyers of both Stingray and Z06 will be getting short end of this deal, through numerous quality issues induced by UAW during its "negotiations".
Eventually, the buyers may see improvement in quality of currently very mediocre C7 when productivity becomes employee grading point but until then, it may be a pretty rough ride. BUYER BEWARE!!!
