kitsch - Art, objects, or design considered to be in poor taste because of excessive garishness or sentimentality, but sometimes appreciated in an ironic or knowing way.
If the need ever arises to come up with an automotive equivalent of kitsch definition, all someone has to do is insert Corvette owner in such definition and the term should be completely self explanatory.
The continuing phenomenon of Corvette owners ghetto rigging their car and decorating them with vomit inducing examples of "art" typically encountered at local flea markets and downtown Tijuana.
A permanent part of this ghetto rigging is a strange ritual of installing murals in the engine compartment and on the hoodliner. As already pointed out here, the owners of the latest generation proudly continue this tradition.
However, here is an example that certainly deserves mentoning because it is so far out, taking that kitsch concept to considerably higher levels than expected. This particular car puts the yellow abortioin to real shame, it is so much more over the top (of bad taste)
Looking at this example actually puts the typical mexican crowd, decorating their vans and low riding "tchevys" to shame. Not only that but if Capatain America ever needs a four wheel ride, this particular car would certainly gain his full approval.
Of particular interest are the various caps in the engine compartment, they all are of very patriotic variety, certainly inviting a load of fireworks on the Fourth of July celebration. Ironically enough, since this is the latest flagship, C7 Z06, the temperatures under the hood should excuse the owner from using a lighter to fire them up.
Absolutely unbelievable how much ghetto rigging takes place among the C7 owners although at the same time, it is a great explanation how such pieces of shit still find buyers.
I don't know Peter, this might be another Z07 upgrade......8 more thousand gets you a cheesy mural and a fictitious sub 7 minute Nurburgring lap time, paint can be aerodynamic if you believe anything ole Tadge says, wink wink
ReplyDeleteYeah, hopefully they used heat resistant paint.
